Building/Running LLVM Tests with Sanitizers
Another option is just to run corresponding script from *https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/zorg/trunk/zorg/buildbot/builders/sanitizers/ <https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/zorg/trunk/zorg/buildbot/builders/sanitizers/>* in empty directory. Building/Running LLVM Tests with Sanitizers
Aside: would it be useful to execute a build of the libc++/libc++abi with msan normally during release, and change the driver to look for these msan-built C++ libs when "-fsanitize=memory"? That would drastically cut down on the complexity of using msan. On Fri, Aug 31, 2018 at 5:43 AM Dean Michael Berris via llvm-dev < llvm-dev at lists.llvm.org> wrote: > Thanks Vitaly and

x86: How to Force 2-byte `jmp` instruction in lowering
Thanks Nirav, I can confirm that this works when I do the compile with llc, but then when linking to an executable with clang (patched with http://reviews.llvm.org/D20352 and compiler-rt patched with http://reviews.llvm.org/D21612) on Linux, I'm getting something different. Here's a sample of the transcript, and what I'm seeing: --->8 clang invocation 8<--- [16-06-23 3:33:42]

x86: How to Force 2-byte `jmp` instruction in lowering
Hmm. Odd. I just rebuilt from scratch and it seems to work with the test/CodeGen/X86/xray-attribute-instrumentation.ll test case outputing straight to obj: llc -filetype=obj -o ~/a.o -mtriple=x86_64-apple-macosx < test/CodeGen/X86/xray-attribute-instrumentation.ll What test case are you using? In any case, the issue appears to be that llvm doesn't realize that the target address is

XRay: Demo on x86_64/Linux almost done; some questions.
Hi, The following three patches, when applied cleanly to LLVM+Clang+compiler-rt will now allow for building and running binaries with a very simple version of XRay included: http://reviews.llvm.org/D21612 (compiler-rt) http://reviews.llvm.org/D20352 (clang) http://reviews.llvm.org/D19904 (llvm) To use this on x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu you'd need to set the flags '-fxray-instrument'

Hi Dean, For me the build is still broken: -- Builtin supported architectures: i386;x86_64;x86_64h CMake Error at projects/compiler-rt/lib/xray/tests/CMakeLists.txt:21 (add_library): add_library cannot create target "RTXRay.test.osx" because another target with the same name already exists. [compiler-rt] r329776 - [XRay][compiler-rt] Fix osx-based builds
Hi Dean, I have fixed the build failure in r329832. In general, do you think it would be possible to perform the task using higher-level functions available from AddCompilerRT.cmake? They were written exactly to avoid such errors. Regards, George > On Apr 11, 2018, at 10:50 AM, George Karpenkov <ekarpenkov at apple.com> wrote: > > Hi Dean, > > For me the build is still

The state of IRPGO (3 remaining work items)
There is some misunderstanding about the intention of this flag. The purpose of the flag is not to turn on profile instrumentation (which already has -fprofile-instr-generate or -fprofile-generate for it), but to select which instrumentors to use for PGO (IR or FE). I prefer fewer flags too, but sharing flags for completely different purpose does not seem like the right thing to do. David On

x86: How to Force 2-byte `jmp` instruction in lowering
Peter suggested just writing out '.byte 0xeb, 0x09' and that allowed the jump instruction to bypass the relaxation, so that fixes my immediate problem. The question still stands though whether it should be possible to do through the instruction builder interface. XRay feature – pid reporting
I'm still somewhat unclear about what you mean by "metadata record entry at the beginning of the block". I understand that I can make a MetadataRecord that contains the pid/tid since a metadata record contains 16 bytes. However, I don't understand what do you mean by the "beginning of the block". Do you mean right after the file header? My understanding is that at

Building an array in a section from multiple object files
Just to close this out, I've updated http://reviews.llvm.org/D19904 to use named ELF groups per-function, and have the runtime library use __start_xray_instr_map and __stop_xray_instr_map as weak symbols from the C++ side. I've sent a patch to make creating these COMDAT/Group sections easier when lowering through the MCStreamer interface ( http://reviews.llvm.org/D21743). Cheers On Fri,
