yum and wildcard problems
I am having trouble using wildcards ("*") with yum in Centos 5. Listing or installing packages using them just immeidately fails with a "No match" error, and I'm not sure why. Here is an example. Any comments? I'd love to fix this. [root at granta ~]# ps -e | grep yum 2706 ? 00:00:22 yum-updatesd [root at granta ~]# yum list | grep kern kernel.x86_64

Network frozen in Centos 5 with Xen
Hello, I have this problem - I have installation of Xen and Centos 5 (all RPMs are from Centos repositories). I have several DomU virtual machines running on this machine. When I try to copy some bigger amount of data from another physical computer to Dom0/DomU on this machine, the network freezes. The link is still up, I can see that the connection really links on the switch, but nothing is

error message when downloading packages using the OS X shell
Hi Fellow R Users, I recently upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5 (Snow Leopard) and had some issues downloading and running R 2.10.1. I fixed the tcl/tk problem I was originally having but it was replaced with another. I run R out of the shell (terminal) and when I ask it to download.packages() it gives me the following message: *Loading Tcl/Tk interface ... done* *Error in file.info(x) : argument

FreeBSD 7.0 + Xen 3.1 + HVM: Success!
Kip, Does the problem with Xen 3.1 in HVM/Intel manifest as those BTX halted errors (e.g. http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-10/msg00014.html) ? If so, do you happen to know whether this problem has been solved in Xen 3.2 or 3.2.1? This message of yours was written this March, so I'm assuming that 3.2.1 will contain this fix? Can anybody confirm this? I'm having

R1000 Driver for RTL8110SC NIC on Biostar I945G-M7
Executive Summary: Realtek has an r1000 driver for the rtl8110sc NIC at http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads I've posted this in the forums but it looks like all the action for CentOS really happens here on the mailing list. Plus I hope this might help some other lost soul since google failed to connect this motherboard to *any* mention of the r1000. I thought I found a great little

FreeBSD 7.0 + Xen 3.1 + HVM: Success!
Just thought I'd pass along that I have successfully installed FreeBSD 7.0 into a Xen 3.1 HVM. ?This one went as smooth as I expected, considering my experience with 6.3. ?Haven't done any benchmarking or stress testing or port installs or anything. ?But so far it's working nicely. Here's all the info. ?If you'd like to see anything else, let me know. Host hardware: ?

Wine/WoW issues
I am running Wow 4.0.3 on Linux Mint 9 using Wine 1.2.1 I use PlayonLinux to manage Wine versions, and I have used up to 1.3.7, which I think is the most current version. Usually, it'll run OK. But I have run across several problems. 1. Logging on: When I log on, sometimes the computer will become completely non responsive. The cursor moves, bot the sound stops, no buttons can be pushed, and

Integrated RTL8168/8111 NIC not assigned interface
I'm running 7.0-RELEASE-i386 on Jetway's NC92-N230 mainboard. The board has one integrated RTL8168/8111 gigabit NIC as well as an expansion board with three RTL8168/8111 NICs. Why would the three NICs work while the onboard NIC does not? none2@pci0:1:0:0: class=0x020000 card=0x816810ec chip=0x816810ec rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Realtek Semiconductor' device

pnorm conditional (PR#2883)
--=-YFjXKq8/D/t1qWmIzQ9D Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable I was going over the source in src/nmath/pnorm.c and noticed a little bug in pnorm_both (in R 1.7.0). The else-if on line 205 covers the entire real line. Seems you want an &&, not an ||. Doesn't make a big difference (you still get a 0 or 1 from extreme starting values) but your log

Suggested Motherboard for TE410P
Hi all, I'm looking for a new system which will use the TE410P. Originally I was going to use a dual Athlon MP system, but my supplier tells me these are being phased out now, and so will be difficult to find replacement parts later. So, I am looking for suggestions of suitable motherboards with 3.3V PCI slots for the following CPU types (in order of my personal preference) AMD Opteron 1xx

Odd thing with Realtek Ethernet card
Hi all, I swapped a Realtek 8139 100M Net Card for a Realtek 8169 Gig Net card in a Centos 5.6 system. After reconfiguring the network settings I find that on boot up the 8169 interface does not start. The startup script says something like "The 8169 is not available..." ifconfig -a shows a device with the right mac address called __tmpsomethingorother I can get it going if I

maximum likelihood accuracy - comparison with Stata
Hi everyone, I am looking to do some manual maximum likelihood estimation in R. I have done a lot of work in Stata and so I have been using output comparisons to get a handle on what is happening. I estimated a simple linear model in R with lm() and also my own maximum likelihood program. I then compared the output with Stata. Two things jumped out at me. Firstly, in Stata my coefficient

conflict between Realtek 8139 (client) and3c2000T(server) NIC's with Samba?
Completely agree. I used to have 8139c cards in my home machines, on a switched 100mbit network, including a Dual P3 server that I run 4 x 80G drives with a HPT454 RAID5 array (software I know, but the dual P3 copes admirably), both the server and my main desktop (dual Athlon MP 2600) were getting to the point of being unusable when such high CPU useage when transferring large documents (Quark
