LVM on dom0?
I''ve spent the past while researching this but I''m just not finding a
solution. I''ve been trying to get my xen kernel booting on a pretty much stock
CentOS 4.4 installation. I installed Xen from src rpm and installed all the
requisite software and I''m sure it''s with the ram disk but I can''t figure out
how to resolve this.
With a stock kernel

Possibly a silly question
I just read an article claiming that RHEL5 will be released on March 14th. I
was just curious if anyone has heard any more buzz or if this is possibly
confirmed:
http://www.cbronline.com/article_news.asp?guid=BAA762B7-84F3-48D0-93B1-18CDC979F9BB
Is there going to be any vigorus testing needed to be done to aid in CentOS-5
being released shortly after? ;-) Any benchmark time lapses between the

PearDB, PHP, CentOS 5
All,
I'm trying to get a small app working but it requires DB.php provided by Pear. I've double checked and I have php-pear.noarch installed but there is no DB.php (just DependencyDB.php ). There seem to be no other packages that have pear or a DB.php file.
Anyone have any ideas where I can get it? I've found just the files provided from the Pear site but I have no idea where to copy

4.4 on Dell D620: widescreenresolution?
Hi,
Did anyone manage to get 4.4 working on a Dell D620 laptop? The thing
has a 1440x900 LCD screen, but I don't get X the work with that
resolution. (lspci: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03))
Google suggested to use '915resolution', which I installed
(915resolution-0.5.2-1.el4.rf), but that doesn't help.
Regards,

LinkedIn still not working?
To clarify the issue I posted earlier:
I am on OS X 10.6.7. Trying to use Mechanize to log in to LinkedIn. As others have posted about in the past, when I submit the form it kicks me back to the LinkedIn landing page, and does not log me in.
I read the earlier discussion of the issue that mentioned how cookie values were being improperly dequoted when stored. But I thought that issue was fixed.

Ignoring DDC settings on Xorg
I am trying to set up a new 1400x900 widescreen monitor, but I just
cannot get it to work correctly. The closest I get is 1400x900, which
causes lots of vertical blur bands.
I have tried with two different machines with i945 and ATi cards,
running CentOS 4 and Ubuntu, always with the same result.
My investigations indicate that the monitor reports itself to be
"1440x900". It also

Where to recruit Ruby on Rails developers?
Anyone have suggestions on where to recruit Ruby on Rails developers?
My startup''s in Berkeley, CA and I''m looking for a talented technical
lead. I''ve tried LinkedIn and Craigslist but the pickings are slim. This
project provides an opportunity to use OpenLaszlo.

CentOS5 on Dell Latitude D620, Docking Station & Dual Monitors???
I've got a Dell Latitude D620, dell docking station and a Dell 2007WFP
(20" widescreen lcd). With XP I had the laptop screen and the lcd
working as dual screens. But for the life of me I cannot get CentOS5
to work with dual screens. Anyone have this working? I would greatly
appreciate any assistance.

HFS filesystem on linux + samba -> Mac
Hi
A friend has a disk with an hfs filesystem on it; we'd like to move it to a
Debian (etch 2.6.18-6) box and share it via samba 3.0.24.
I can mount the hfs disk and see the files on the linux box : good
I can share a normal (xfs/etx3) fs via samba to the Mac : good
Although I can share the hfs fs via samba, the extended attributes are not
visible; so the existing files on the hfs

Many orphaned inodes after resize2fs
Hello,
yesterday I experienced following problem with my ext3 filesystem:
- I had ext3 filesystem of the size of a few TB with journal. I correctly
unmounted it and it was marked clean.
- I then ran fsck.etx3 -f on it and it did not find any problem.
- After increasing size of its LVM volume by 1.5 TB I resized the
filesystem by resize2fs lvm_volume and it finished without problem.
- But

Manage of firewall.
Hello,
I see manage of firewall in CentOS (called security), and seems
difficult to manage, not enough powerful.
I am searching a middle term between scripts of iptables to manage and
Security manager of CentOS. I know FireStarter, another similar?

yum vs up2date
Which is better? Why?
I know yum is the official update mechanism here and in Fedora Core, but
that doesn't make yum better than up2date any more than Windows NT was
better than OS/2.
Let's try to keep the discussion objective:-)
I'm asking, hoping for some insights into why RH might (apparently) be
moving to yum in preference to up2date (yum is now used within Anaconda).

wireless card for CentOS
Hi,
I'll need to buy a new wireless card. I need a recommendation for
PCMCIA wireless card that simply works with CentOS out of the box.
By "works out of the box", I mean that it doesn't need ndis wrapper
(or whatever it is called), kernel hacks, or whatever.
Thanks

Sudo(ers) distrobution system/script
Just wondering if anyone out there is using sudo across a bunch of
machines and has a system/script for painlessly distributing a master
sudoers file? is it as easy as a daily cronjob running wget/scp/rsync?

openssl package possibly different in CentOS and RHEL
I've just had a problem on one of my x86_64 boxes with openssl
package. I have an 32-bit only application that requires openssl
libraries. When I attempted to install openssl.i686 (in addition to
already present openssl.x86_64), it failed. The rpm complained about
conflicting files (they were all manpages), and I needed to use
--force option to install the thing.
