Hello, I'm having this error and couldn't find a resolution from online, any help would be greatly appreciated: clang: /export/home/hzhang86/chapel/chapel-llvm36/chapel/third-party/llvm/llvm/lib/CodeGen/AsmPrinter/DwarfUnit.cpp:839: void llvm::DwarfUnit::addType(llvm::DIE&, llvm::DIType, llvm::dwarf::Attribute): Assertion `Ty && "Trying to add a type that doesn't

[DebugInfo] [DWARFv5] .debug_abbrev contents for different implicit_const values
Hello all, it looks like we have a bug here but I am not sure. Currently if we have two similar types with implicit_const attributes and different values we end up with only one abbrev in .debug_abbrev section. For example consider two structures: S1 with implicit_const attribute ATTR and value VAL1 and S2 with implicit_const ATTR and value VAL2. The .debug_abbrev section will contain only 1

[DebugInfo][DWARFv5] should -gdwarf-5 imply usage of .debug_names?
Hello all, I am implementing support for .debug_names section (which is introduced in DWARFv5 standard as replacement for .debug_pubnames and .debug_pubtypes). The question is: should usage of DWARF version 5 force generation of .debug_names instead of .debug_pubnames or we can make it just default behavior and provide user with the interface (cmd switch) to use other DWARFv5 features but

Invalid DW_AT_calling_convention generated for a DW_TAG_class_type
In llvm/lib/CodeGen/AsmPrinter/DwarfUnit.cpp, the compiler can emit a DW_AT_calling_convention attribute with a DW_TAG_class_type (and it looks like a DW_TAG_variant_part, DW_TAG_structure_type or DW_TAG_union_type as well), but the DWARF 4 specification says that DW_AT_calling_convention is not a valid attribute for any of those three DWARF tags. Downstream object consumers that check to verify

How to resolve debug info forward types
Before metadata was separated from values, I could create a debug info forward declaration and eventually resolve it using LLVMReplaceAllUsesWith in core.h. Now, I can't figure out how to resolve it. I can find no function that seems to do this. My one wild guess that giving the forward decl and the resolving decl the same UniqueId might do it is not working. I am currently using 3.6.1, but

StructType --> DICompositeType?
Is there a more convenient way to obtain a DIType given a Type than matching up the strings for the names? For example, given: struct S { int x, y; } s; void foo(S *a) { a->x = 0; a->y = 1; } There are DIType nodes for the struct Type: !6 = distinct !DICompositeType(tag: DW_TAG_structure_type, name: "S", file: !3, line: 1, size: 64, flags: DIFlagTypePassByValue,

debug_rnglists status
Hi Victor, The work Wolfgang is doing should get us to the "minimum syntactically correct DWARF v5" stage, which we really wanted to have for LLVM 7.0. That is, once we have .debug_rnglists and .debug_loclists done, you can ask for DWARF 5 and get something that conforms to the spec. However, it won't conform if you ask for type units (I'm working on that) or split DWARF. If

Adding DWARF5 accelerator table support to llvm
Hello, I hope I will have time to help you with that. I discussed dwarfv5 .debug_names implementation with involved party from RH. Anyway even if can't help much could you keep me in the loop please? How to resolve debug info forward types
It's now a multi-stage process. First, there is a difference between a permanent forward declaration (i.e. the actual definition is in a different file) and a temporary forward declaration (i.e. it will appear later in the same file). To create a permanent forward declaration: DICompositeType *result = m_DIBuilder->createForwardDecl( dwarf::DW_TAG_structure_type,

workaround for debug info bug?
Seems like something infinite-recursion like to me: $ clang --version clang version 6.0.0 (trunk 317833) Target: powerpc64le-unknown-linux-gnu $ clang -c test.ll warning: overriding the module target triple with powerpc64le-unknown-linux-gnu [-Woverride-module] ... #255 0x0000000012b07a78 llvm::DwarfUnit::getOrCreateTypeDIE(llvm::MDNode const*) ... So I'd say it reproduces. On Wed, Nov 15,

Adding DWARF5 accelerator table support to llvm
Hello all, In <https://reviews.llvm.org/D41986#977215> it was brought up that there are at least two parties interested in having DWARF5 accelerator tables implemented, so I'm writing this email to see if there's anyone else interested in this topic, and to try to synchronize our efforts. Our interest for this stems from a desire to make dwarf parsing fast on non-apple targets

[DWARFv5] The new line-table section header
The next feature on my DWARF 5 list is the line-table header. While this is pretty easy generate, it is a real bear to parse, so I thought I should let y'all know what I'm up to and why as I head out to the yak farm. Any thoughts and suggestions would be very much appreciated. The v5 directory and file tables no longer have a fixed format; instead, we have a list of field descriptors

[DebugInfo] DWARF C API
Hi folks, I am trying to implement the C bindings API for DebugInfo::DWARF::DWARFDie. My goal is to have a C library that reads and parses DWARF debugging format (just like how llvm-dwarfdump does, but maybe more than just dumping debug info) I've started with creating C structure for DebugInfo::DWARF::DWARFContext which contains all DWARF DIEs in the object file. For this I used ```
