[lld][ELF] Addends adjustment for relocatable object
You are right. LLD does not have this problem. Initially I bumped into the MIPS specific bug related to GP relative relocations calculation. I tried to make reproduction script as general as possible and mistakenly make it too general. So now with your help I realized that the problem solely affects MIPS. [lld][ELF] Addends adjustment for relocatable object
Initial issue is related to R_MIPS_GPREL16/32 relocations. When we calculate such relocations we need to know _gp symbol's value. This value might come from different sources. Usually we setup it using constant offset from the .got section. Also it might be defined by a linker script. And in rare but possible case it comes from .reginfo / .MIPS.options sections. Got example, GNU bfd linker

[LLVMdev] [lld] Relocation sections format: .rela / .rel
Hi, Now lld writes relocations to the ".rela" sections only. Mips requires to use the "rel" format. So we need to be able to select format and names of relocation section, names of symbols like __rela_iplt_* / __rel_iplt_*, dynamic table tag DT_RELA / DT_REL. My current idea: - Add two virtual functions DefaultLayout::createDynamicRelocationTable() and

[LLVMdev] llvm-objdump does not give information about all relocations
Hi, We are trying to use LLVM API to programmatically obtain a list of relocations in an ELF file. The way we are doing this is exactly as llvm-objdump does it: we are iterating through sections and in each section we are iterating over relocations (see PrintRelocations() function at https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk/tools/llvm-objdump/llvm-objdump.cpp). However, it does not give us

[LLVMdev] [lld] Wrong references for C++ COMDAT groups
Hi, Checking the llvm test-suite SingleSource/Regression/C++/EH/class_hierarchy testcase on aarch64 I noted something strange: Dump of assembler code for function _Z4funcj: 0x0000000000400650 <+0>: stp x22, x21, [sp,#-48]! 0x0000000000400654 <+4>: stp x20, x19, [sp,#16] 0x0000000000400658 <+8>: stp x29, x30, [sp,#32] 0x000000000040065c

Looks like it is also not working on x86_64, using clang/lld I am seeing a segmentation fault: Dump of assembler code for function _Z4funcj: 0x0000000000400590 <+0>: push %rbp 0x0000000000400591 <+1>: push %rbx 0x0000000000400592 <+2>: push %rax 0x0000000000400593 <+3>: mov %edi,%ebp 0x0000000000400595 <+5>: pop %rdx 0x0000000000400596

lld dynamic relocation creation issue
Hi all, Working on lld aarch64 support I came across an issue where I am not sure which would be best design approach to solve. The aarch64 R_AARCH64_ABS64 relocation for PIC/PIE build requires a dynamic relocation (R_AARCH64_RELATIVE) with the value set as the addend of the relocation. For instance, when linking the crtbeginS.o which contains: Relocation section '.rela.init_array' at

lld write wrong symbol value in .data section if enable -pie
Hi Rui, I still fail to enable the lld in my Uefi firmware build to replace ld, and I found it is related to the wrong symbol values in the .data section, which are pointed by R_X86_64_64 relocation entries. I need your advices. My firmware uses a linker script https://github.com/tianocore/edk2/blob/master/BaseTools/Scripts/GccBase.lds to do the linking. We use position independent code with

[llvm-mc] FreeBSD kernel module performance impact when upgrading clang
Hi, I'm in the process of migrating from clang5 to clang10. Unfortunately clang10 introduced a negative performance impact. The cause is an increase of PLT entries from this patch (first released in clang7): https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36370 https://reviews.llvm.org/D43383 If I revert that clang patch locally, the additional PLT entries and the performance impact disappear. [PATCH] D15965: Add support for dumping relocations in non-relocatable files
It sounds like what you’re asking is, rather that universally calling RelocationRef::getOffset inside llvm-objdump.cpp I should: * Check if Obj “isRelocatableObject” * If it is, call RelocationRef::getOffset() * If it isn’t o Call RelocationRef::getAddress() o Build an ordered map of all sections and their bounds, check if the relocation lands within a section o

[lld] R_MIPS_HI16 / R_MIPS_LO16 calculation
Hi, I am working on support R_MIPS_HI16 / R_MIPS_LO16 in the new LLD and have a couple of questions. == Q1 In case of MIPS O32 ABI we have to find a matching R_MIPS_LO16 relocation to calculate R_MIPS_HI16 one because R_MIPS_HI16 uses combined addend (AHI << 16) + (short)ALO where AHI is original R_MIPS_HI16 addend and ALO is addend of the matching R_MIPS_LO16 relocation [1]. There are two
