Broadcom Wifi Problem
I have a Broadcom 802.11b/g hardware on my dual-boot laptop. Note first that in the WinXP partition, the wifi makes DHCP connections to my router with no problem. Since this was not working in my new CentOS 6 partition, and remembering that there was a driver problem with the old Fedora partition it replaced, I followed instructions founs at:

intel wifi and bridging - have u done it?
changed mode from router to switch on 2 Linux and 2 WinXP nodes. configured Linux bridging per the website and that worked for hardwired ethernet over cat5. For the wifi wireless xp clients, i didnt have any luck. Maybe i did something wrong, but it seems so easy to create a bridge in xp. highlight 2 or more nics, right click and choose bridge. Hitachi Cable WIP-5000 Wifi phone?
I see that ABPTech are now offering this SIP Wifi phone. Does anyone have an experience with it? I've considered the Pulver/Zyxel wifi phone but would really rather have something that can handle WEP or WPA. I run an 802.11g wlan with 256 bit WPA encryption. This Hitachi phone looks very much like a cell phone, which could be ideal. Michael -- Michael Graves

Wifi wpa_supplicant with atheros successes or failures?
I remember being a small part of and following this thread a few months ago. <http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2006-May/065091.html> I've been attempting a go at getting wpa_supplicant running on CentOS 4.3 and haven't had much luck. I'm assuming my failure is my lack of knowledge on the subject, but anyways. First, my normal setup is as follows: IBM Thinkpad R40

Hop-On WIFI Phone MSRP $40
I have a lot of folks asking me about an auto-negotiating WLAN phone supposedly being brought to market by Hop-On, which is touted to carry an MSRP of $40 Press photos (stock art) of the device shows it looks almost identical to devices from Zyxel and UTStarCom. I am trying to explain to folks there is no way in hell you are going to be able to buy these phones, hardware only, for $40

First, I can''t seem to find any rpms to just install (this would be really nice). And, second, when I try to build it from the src.rpm that I pulled from the atrpms repository with "rpmbuild --recompile

[Bridge] Interface or Linux crashes when put in bridge mode
Hi all, let me see if I can explain my problem in an explicable way. I have written a WLAN driver which runs on a dedicated box (e.g. not a PCMCIA card). The box is plugged into a client that wants WLAN connectivity via Ethernet. E.g.: [ ] Ethernet [ ] RF/WLAN [ Laptop ]------------------[ WLAN adapter ]------------- [ ] [ ]

WiFi phones and WDS (Wireless Distribution System)
I'm about to start working with WiFi phones on my Asterisk installations. Can anyone tell me if they are using WiFi phones on wireless network that is extended with WDS and how well the phone handles jumping from access point to access point while on a call? Do any WiFi phones support WPA encryption or are they all still under the impression they are only being used on public hot spots?
