Why CentOS 5.2 is so large?
Hi, folks. I have download the DVD image of CentOS 5.2. Comparing with the DVD image of Upstream OS Provider, I got a surprise: The size of the DVD image of Upstream OS Provider is just 2.87 GB(i386), but the size of the DVD image of CentOS 5.2(i386) is so large that is 3.74 GB! I kown that CentOS's developers did very excellent work on how to make the Upstream OS more availability and add

basename/dirname produce incorrect results
The incorrect result incurs when the file path contains Chinese character. It seems that dirname/basename action on unit of byte instead of char, so the result in the following example is half of what is expected. > g<-"d:\\$BG!2L4^M-CfJ8(B\\$BG!2L4^M-CfJ8(B.txt" > dirname(g) [1] "d:/$BG!2L4^(B" > basename(g) [1] "$BG!2L4^M-(B" -- HUANG Ronggui,

[RFC qemu 4/4] migration: filter out guest's free pages in ram bulk stage
Get the free pages information through virtio and filter out the free pages in the ram bulk stage. This can significantly reduce the total live migration time as well as network traffic. [PATCH v3 kernel 0/7] Extend virtio-balloon for fast (de)inflating & fast live migration
This patch set contains two parts of changes to the virtio-balloon. One is the change for speeding up the inflating & deflating process, the main idea of this optimization is to use bitmap to send the page information to host instead of the PFNs, to reduce the overhead of virtio data transmission, address translation and madvise(). This can help to improve the performance by about 85%.

Information Loss of Array Type in Function Interface in IR Generated by Clang
Dear David, Thanks for your prompt reply! Sure, I can implement a AST visitor to go through the AST to get the information but I just wonder whether there is any other way to let Clang do so. What I am considering is how to let the generated IR looks like below, which some tools realize: define dso_local i32 @_Z1fPii([51 x i32]* %A, i32 %x) local_unnamed_addr #0 !dbg !7 { entry: ...

catch "find" exception
obviously, follow code is not working <p> <% if !@group.users.find(session[:user].id) %> <%= link_to "Join This Group", :action => "join", :id => @group %> <% end %> </p> "find" always throw an exception. I want to display the link of "find" fails, what is the right way to do this? Thanks. -- Posted via

[PATCH v7 kernel 0/5] Extend virtio-balloon for fast (de)inflating & fast live migration
Take over this work from Liang. This patch series implements two optimizations: 1) transfer pages in chuncks between the guest and host; 1) transfer the guest unused pages to the host so that they can be skipped to migrate in live migration. Please check patch 0003 for more details about optimization 1). For an idle guest with 8GB RAM, optimization 2) can help shorten the total live migration
