Instance variables versus local variables
This novice coder roughly understands the difference between instance
and local variables thanks to David Black''s excellent book, but I''m
still unclear as to when and why a either is more desirable to use.
In general, I use instance variables in my controller and local in my
views, but I''m not sure as to why or if this is correct.

Given a pointer, does any addrspacecast affect the pointer's
dereferenceablity ? For example,

Build warnings
Hi all,
I've recently decided to take a look at Theora for the first time. The 1.1.1 release compiles fine, but the compiler generates a fairly large number of warnings about "suggest parentheses around + or - inside shift". I've had a look at a few of these and sometimes it isn't obvious what is meant to happen. I guess the code is all correct though as I'm sure

Model methods and partial view templates
I have a method in a controller that invokes a
render :partial => ''some_partial_view''
In that view, I''m trying to access a method defined in a model, like
this;
<% for view in @an_array %>
<% local_var = view.some_method() %>

Hi,
I am trying to execute a simple hello world program compiled like so:
path/to/compiled/clang -o test --target=aarch64-linux-gnu
-march=armv8.5-a -fsanitize=hwaddress
--sysroot=/usr/aarch64-linux-gnu/
-L/usr/lib/gcc/aarch64-linux-gnu/10.1.0/ -g test.c
However, when I look at the disassembly, there is an unknown
instruction listed at 0x2d51c:

I suspect that this is hitting the issue that I mentioned here:

We may need to do what I suggested there and restrict global tag entropy on
non-Android Linux to 7 bits. You can try working around this issue for now
by using lld as the linker (-fuse-ld=lld).

Test if view renders appropriate partial?
Hello,
I am testing out a partial that calls another, general purpose
partial as part of its processing. Is there a class I can mock in
Rails views to accomplish what I need? That is, could I do something
like the following:
SomeClass.should_receive(:render).with(:partial => "foo", :locals => {

I'm using R 2.8.1 under Vista.
I programmed a Simulation with the code enclosed at the end of the eMail.
After the simulation I want to analyse the columns of the single
simulation-runs, i.e. e.g. Simulation[[1]][,1] sth. like that but I
cannot address these columns...

* How can I adress multiple CPUs (cores) out of R to speed up the simulations I run?
* What are the prerequisites to do so?

+ Erik, who implemented DR1579
Originally, I had the warning similar to GCC's warning, but took it out due
to not having DR1579 implemented in clang (warning changed in r243594)
Erik in r274291 implemented DR1579, although PR27785 didn't mention
anything about std::move
It looks like what's happening is that Clang and GCC handles the return
differently. Clang needs the std::move

Automatically backing up and restoring x18 around function calls on AArch64?
Hi,
When using Wine to run Windows ARM64 executables on Linux, there's one
major ABI incompatibility between the two; Windows treats the x18
register as the reserved platform register, while it is free to be
clobbered anywhere in code on Linux.
The Wine code sets up this register before passing control over to the
Windows executable code, but whenever the Windows code calls a function

[LLVMdev] Word Addressing
Hi all,
All of the data types are 32 bits and the pointer is 32 bit. Therefore, I
need word adressing instead of byte adressing to use 8 GB memory.
I was told that R600 uses word adressing and I looked at its codes but I
could not find where the backends handles word adressing.
Do you have any ideas about it?
