I'd prefer not to keep all of that code around to interpret both
versions without a very good reason.

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Less memory and greater maintainability for debug info IR
For those interested, I've attached some pie charts based on Duncan's data
in one of the other posts; successive slides break down the usage
increasingly finely. To my understanding, they represent the number of
Value's (and subclasses) allocated.

[LLVMdev] First-class debug info IR: MDLocation
I've attached a preliminary patch for `MDLocation` as a follow-up to the
RFC [1] last week. It's not commit-ready -- in particular, it squashes
a bunch of commits together and doesn't pass `make check` -- but I think
it's close enough to indicate the direction and work toward consensus.

On the contrary, I came into this expecting to work with Eric on

[LLVMdev] Assertion: replaceAllUses of value with new value of different type! being thrown all of a sudden
I forgot to mention this in my initial email.
The build of LLVM that I was using was commit a0d5d7aed8e177cea381b3d054d80c212ece9f2c
The date on the commit is: Date: Fri Sep 26 12:34:06 2014
Also:
Today I grabbed the ToT llvm/clang/clang-extra-tools and I’m working on getting my code to be compatible with it.
I can switch back and forth between the current ToT llvm and the old one.

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Separating Metadata from the Value hierarchy
TL;DR: If you use metadata (especially if it's out-of-tree), check the
numbered list of lost functionality below to see whether I'm trying to
break your compiler permanently.
In response to my recent commits (e.g., [1]) that changed API from
`MDNode` to `Value`, Eric had a really interesting idea [2] -- split
metadata entirely from the `Value` hierarchy, and drop general support

[LLVMdev] [LLVM 3.6.0] Metadata/Value split and RAUW.
Hello everyone,
If I understand correctly after the Metadata/Value split the Metadata support of RAUW is limited by ValueAsMetadata and MDNodeFwdDecl (i.e. until cycled in MDNode are not resovled).
And my question is. Is where any way to replace an MDNode which is referenced by other MDNodes w\o iterating over all MDNodes in LLMVContext to find and replace those references? Unfortunately I

[LLVMdev] Dwarf debug info misses while clang codegen
I'm trying to write a llvm pass to add debug info into a non-debug-info bitcode
file. I have been read http://llvm.org/docs/SourceLevelDebugging.html. And I use
DIBuilder to produce the debug metadata. I know I can't get all information form
ir code . So I add some manual info as test data. After executing my pass, I can
find debug info metadata in my generated bitcode. Those metadata

Metadata RAUW
Hello,
Does anyone know if it is possible to RAUW the Metadata? I took a look at
the source for it and IIUC, it is not possible. What should I do to
implement the RAUW for DINode (more precisely DILocation)?
Thank you for your help,

[LLVMdev] Assertion: replaceAllUses of value with new value of different type! being thrown all of a sudden
Hello,
I wonder if someone would know what is going on below.
All of a sudden I’m getting this assertion thrown:
Assertion failed: (New->getType() == getType() && "replaceAllUses of value with new value of different type!"), function replaceAllUsesWith, file /Users/meister/Development/externals-clasp/llvm36/lib/IR/Value.cpp, line 345.
