[LLVMdev] [un]wrapping llvm:DITypeRef
In trying to write a C binding for DIBuilder of llvm 3.6.1, I can't see a way to unwrap
llvm::DITypeRef, declared in include/llvm/IR/DebugInfo.h. This is a class with one
data member, a pointer to Metadata.
If I try to make my C type a struct with one pointer, I can't cast it to DITypeRef.
If I try to go inside the classes and use the pointer, I can cast, but can't construct

[cfe-dev] RFC: CodeView debug info emission in Clang/LLVM
I think it'd be reasonable to at least figure out a good way to do type
references consistently across the two schemes, but I'm OK with the idea of
having a blob of opaque type information for different debug info formats,
created by frontends (& don't mind if the library for building that blob
live in LLVM or Clang for now - the DWARF one at least would probably live
in LLVM

Find uses of Metadata / DITypes
I'm looking for a way to efficiently traverse the Metadata structure in
reverse, or otherwise find DITypes that refer to another DIType. As an
example, say I have a DICompositeType describing a struct. Now I want to
find other DITypes containing this type, e.g. a DIDerivedType describing
its pointer type, or another struct containing this struct as one of its
fields. Is this possible in LLVM

[LLVMdev] Parameter names in IR and debug info
Have I correctly inferred below, how I build IR and debug info for
a function type and a function (value), in particular, how to supply
the names of the formal parameters?
To create a function in llvm IR and give names to its formal parameters,
I must:
1. Build a LLVMTypeRef for the type of each formal and the function result.
2. Build a function type using LLVMFunctionType, from the results of

[LLVMdev] question about the DIBuilder::createStructType
Hello,
I'm using DIBuilder to create debugging information, I'm not clear about
two things:
[1] Could you help explain the meaning and the difference
between"alignment" and "offset" of a type ?
e.g class Actor{
int age;
const char* name;
}
Besides, I found the denotation of createMemberType and createStructType
both have "Member

[cfe-dev] RFC: Up front type information generation in clang and llvm
How will this affect other languages that generate debug info - not that
you should care about those, I'm just curious - my Pascal compiler does not
generate clang-style AST, and does not use clang at all. I currently have
code that in uses DIBuilder directly...

StructType --> DICompositeType?
Is there a more convenient way to obtain a DIType given a Type than matching up the strings for the names?
For example, given:
struct S {
int x, y;
} s;
void foo(S *a) {
a->x = 0;
a->y = 1;
}
There are DIType nodes for the struct Type:
!6 = distinct !DICompositeType(tag: DW_TAG_structure_type, name: "S", file: !3, line: 1, size: 64, flags: DIFlagTypePassByValue,
