[LLVMdev] Any way to use a pass in opt, that does not have normal constructor?
Dear LLVM,
The TargetData pass needs target data layout to be specified in
constructor, and therefore its normal ctor is defined, but always
gives a fatal error.
Still, is there any way to make it loadable into the opt tool? I need
this to make use of bugpoint in reducing backend test case.
Thanks,
- Dima.

How to include a opt pass in clang driver
Hi Eli,
I have tried that:
static void registerMyPass(const PassManagerBuilder &,
llvm::legacy::PassManagerBase &PM) {
PM.add(new MyPass());
}
static RegisterStandardPasses
RegisterMyPass(PassManagerBuilder::EP_OptimizerLast,
registerMyPass);
It still couldn't find my pass.

[LLVMdev] Accessing an empty machine function before instruction selection?
I'm trying to access the MachineFunctionInfo structure from a pre-ISel pass. In order to do this I have to get access to the MachineFunction and then call getInfo().
Currently in my pass I request it via:
void AMDILBarrierDetect::getAnalysisUsage(AnalysisUsage &AU) const
{
AU.addRequired<MachineFunctionAnalysis>();
FunctionPass::getAnalysisUsage(AU);
}
However, I am getting an

How to include a opt pass in clang driver
Hello,
I have written a pass for the IR and I can run it with opt -load
lib/LLVMMyPass.so -mypass -myarguments -S -o output.ll < output.bc
I have registered my pass with the following code:
static RegisterPass<MyPass>
X("mypass", "MyPass Pass (with getAnalysisUsage implemented)");
How do I include the same pass in the clang driver. I tried running the
pass:

Where put buissness logic?
I''ve always think that it belongs to controller but I''ve read few
articles that it should be done by model and controller should be thin
glue betwean model and view. Where should I put it?

Inefficient storing of ISO images with compress=lzo
I''ve noticed that:
- with x86-64 Fedora 15 DVD install images:
- du -sh <ROOT VOLUME> was 36 GB
- btrfs df | grep -i data have shown over 40 GB used
- without
- du -sh <ROOT VOLUME> is 34 GB
- btrfs df | grep -i data have shown less then 34 GB used
It seems that iso files are considered compressable while they may not be (and penalty is severe - 3x).

[LLVMdev] Problemo: createTailDuplicationPass
Good morning!
After updating and recompiling my copy of the LLVM trunk I noticed
that the line "_passManager.add(llvm::createTailDuplicationPass());"
in my code fails with the following assertion:
Assertion failed: NormalCtor && "Cannot call createPass on PassInfo
without default ctor!", file

Problems with registering of ModulePass (with Dependencies)
Hello,
I have created a ModulePass, that now needs LoopInfo information.
The ModulePass registration is taken from [1]. I use clang to directly invoke
it (This is also a hard requirement, because I need the fancy output of clang
warnings/remarks).
The problem is, that the dependency to the LoopInfoWrapperPass does not seem
to work. The error is:

Tried this second patch with the svn version 97812 (the one the patch is
made against), but it doesn't compile:

token"
Seems raw_ostream is forward declared but not defined (adding a missing

[LLVMdev] Possible error in docs.
http://llvm.org/docs/CodeGenerator.html#machine-code-description-classes
Section starting:
Fixed (preassigned) registers
It talks about converting:
define i32 @test(i32 %X, i32 %Y) {
%Z = udiv i32 %X, %Y
ret i32 %Z
}
into
;; X is in EAX, Y is in ECX
mov %EAX, %EDX
sar %EDX, 31
idiv %ECX
ret
BUT, where does the "sar" come from?
Kind Regards
