[LLVMdev] VMKit
Hi,
I'm trying to sort out how MMTk is linked with VMKit. MMTk is written in
Java and VMKit is written in C++, and there are some java files and
something seems to be garbage collection in c++ sources.
Could you tell me where exactly mark and sweep algorithm takes place in
(java?) source code and how and where is it invoked in c++?
Regards,
Liana Bakradze.

[LLVMdev] Enjoying vmkit
Hi.
I became study vmkit and did not find any methods to understand its
structure and functional capabilities expect building toyVM. In process of
its building I have encountered with some problems:
1) I don't understand how and when tracer is called by collector, because
methods MandelPix::tracer and Picture::tracer I had wrote are never called
by collector;
2) I don't understand how I

[LLVMdev] Error on running ToyVM (included in vmkit)
Hi all,
After implementing the ToyVM::runApplication method, I run the ToyVM
binary, A segmentation fault occurs on starting ToyThread.
My code is:
void ToyVM::runApplication(int argc, char** argv) {
ToyThread *tt = new ToyThread(this);
mainThread = tt;
typedef void (*vmkitThreadfptr)(vmkit::Thread*);
void (*mainStartPtr)(vmkit::Thread*);
mainStartPtr = (vmkitThreadfptr)(&mainStart);

[LLVMdev] ToyVM tutorial
Hi!
Thank you for your project!
Now I'm trying to make ToyVM like in your "VMKit tutorial", but that
tutorial isn't for the very beginners and isn't very detailed. Also
comments in French are not very easy for understanding . So I have problems
with that.
Do you have any more detailed tutorials (maybe you just haven't posted the
latest version on vmkit website) and can I

[LLVMdev] Error on completing ToyThread::execute() in ToyVM (vmkit project)
Hi,
The VMKit framework has been updated to be more generic.
The getVirtualTable method is not exposed anymore since this method suppose
that your object layout contains a virtual table.
Now you have new methods to get / set objects type which are virtual methods
inherited by the vmkit::VirtualMachine class.
Thus you can still keep your object identity as virtual tables, but now the

[LLVMdev] Error on completing ToyThread::execute() in ToyVM (vmkit project)
--
Hi all,
My code is:
TOY_VAR(Picture*, aPic);
aPic = Picture::doNew(-2, 1, -1, 1, 1900, 1200);
This code has the following compilation error:
../lib/ToyRoot.h:41:33: error: no member named 'getVirtualTable' in 'Toy::Picture'
res = gc::operator new(sz, o.getVirtualTable());
~ ^
Is it correct?

[LLVMdev] [VMKit]
Hi there.
Thanks for recent work that make vmkit working.
As far as I know, ToyVM[0] is the only entry point to vmkit for beginners
and I think it's outdated because of dependance of LLVM < 3.2 (bad include
paths, TargetData type error, ...)
Can you please, update it to recent changes if it's possible ?
Also Is there other(s) way(s) to get started with vmkit ?
Thanks,
Baptiste.

UTMP duplicated entries
Hi everybody!
I've been noticing some strange entries in samba/utmp. I have a lot of
00:00 timed sessions.
But the worst problem is that i found some conflicting information. Since
windows doesn't allow concurrent login sessions, I think utmp should not
have generated the following entries.

[LLVMdev] VMKit: Problem compiling vmkit
Hi,
I'm trying to compile vmkit but am running into some problems. I
followed the instructions at http://vmkit.llvm.org/get_started.html and
checked out llvm and clang from svn, compiled them no problem and the
same with classpath 0.97.2. I then checked out vmkit from svn and tried
to build it. All these are located at
/home/callum/vmkit/{llvm,classpath-0.97.2,vmkit}.
I used this to

[LLVMdev] [vmkit]Errors when compiling vmkit
Hi Julien,
Due to some new commits, openjdk build is broken for the moment.
We are fixing this.
You can temporarily use the following commit to try VMKit with OpenJDK
implementation.
d9bf3794d66a116999f8f16d0799fba6fe5bd822
just call the following command in your vmkit directory:
git checkout d9bf3794d66a116999f8f16d0799fba6fe5bd822

[LLVMdev] [vmkit]Errors when compiling vmkit
Hi,
I see that now vmkit2 contains the last revisions of the project, so I
follow these instructions to compile vmkit :
http://vmkit2.gforge.inria.fr/start.php
I download and compile LLVM without errors. I have tested with and without
optimizations but this is the same for the errors.
My configuration for LLVM is just : ./configure; make
Apparently we can build vmkit with OpenJDK instead of GNU

[LLVMdev] How to cope with 'undefined reference' errors taken the example of building VMkit x86_64 version
Hi all,
I haven't found this trick anywhere (including llvm/docs/MakefileGuide.html)
so it maybe useful.
This occurs only in 64 bit version of linux, linker of 32 bit system
understands
everything correctly.
Situation:
While building, at link stage, a 64bit version of some executable, with
several archive libraries, say, A.a, B.a, C.a
build fails with some "undefined reference to

[LLVMdev] Compiling VMKit in debug mode
Hello,
I am currently working on the latest version of VMKit (svn trunk). I need
to debug VMKit so I tried compiling VMKit in debugging mode
(ENABLE_OPTIMIZED=0). To do so I compiled LLVM in debug mode (yes, I really
did it...) via:
./configure --enable-debug-runtime --enable-debug-symbols
make ENABLE_OPTIMIZED=0
It all went okay for LLVM.
Now I tried to compile VMKit in debug mode via:

[LLVMdev] [patch] vmkit compiled using gcc
I have tested compiling vmkit using gcc3.4 and gcc4.4
Some vmkit files required that I added some explicit typecasts and
#includes in order to compile.
I have attached my changes against the vmkit svn trunk rev 69439
Using this patch both versions of gcc managed to compiled vmkit on my
machine.
