Updated today, got Typo 2.6.0 broken with Rails 1.1 (Ruby 1.8.4) -- WEBrick does not start. Is there any workaround except "svn co" with Typo trunk? -- Yaroslav Markin yaroslav at markin dot net

Specifying C Standard in Package's Makevars File
Hi, what is the correct way to specify a C standard in a package's Makevars file? Building a package with e.g. PKG_CFLAGS = -std=gnu11 does work but R CMD check issues a warning: * checking compilation flags in Makevars ... WARNING Non-portable flags in variable 'PKG_CFLAGS': -std=gnu11 (Same for -std=c11.) Thanks! Regards, Andreas Kersting

[PATCH] remove stray `;` after function definitions

This can be caught with -Wpedantic, which seems to catch a few more instances of this, as well as passing non-void pointers to printf for the `%p` format specifier. Patches attached for these. However, it also catches

Installation of R-4.3.1 with intel 2022
Note that 'intel 2022' is a bit vague. The current version is 2023.1.0, and that has both the 'classic' (icc/icpc/ifort which it seems you used) and new (icx/ixpx/ifx) compilers -- the former are said to be going to be discontinued later this year. R did not know about ifx so did not build with the new set. The parts of the manual Tomas referred to were about the old

AArch64 fmul/fadd fusion
Hi All, Recently I was doing some AArch64 work and noticed some cases where fmuls were not getting fused with fadds. Is there any particular reason that the AArch64 machine combiner doesn't do this like it does for add/mul? I am happy to work up a patch for this, but I wanted to make sure that there wasn't a good reason for it not already being there. FWIW, I see where GCC is doing

Your RoR 1.1 Adoption Prediction?
What is the likelyhood that major inexpensive webhosts like godaddy, bluehost, etc. will upgrade to RoR 1.1? Is this going to be like PHP 5 where it has to percolate for a year or more before it becomes widly available? Your thoughts? Along the same lines... is it possible to adopt some of the new improved Ajax / javascript capabilities without actually upgrading the ruby installation?

Building LLVM and Clang using Clang?
Try as I might I can't seem to get LLVM to bulid using clang/clang++. No matter what I do it insists on using /usr/bin/cc and /usr/bin/c++ which are gcc. Am I missing something obvious? I vaguely remember some document describing a stage1 compiler built by your old toolchain and a stage2 compiler but I can't find the steps to do that any more. $ CC=/usr/local/bin/clang
