If you want to create a version for the mips1 subtarget, going back in
time will probably be a lot of work for you.
If you want to modify the current version you might try the following:
1) Create a Mips1 predicate and use that to disable instruction patterns
that match using non Mips1 instructions.
2) Use soft-float
3) You would need to reenable some commented out code used to implement

My guess is he wants mips1 so that he doesn't have to worry about the
patented mips instructions?
At any rate, it will be a bit of work to enable a mips1 target and I
doubt many people are interested, so it'll definitely be up to him to
do the work.

Hello Paul and Simon, (Sorry - I'm not sure about the social conventions in mailing lists)
Both of your answers helped me a lot! So If I understand it correctly, Clang knows what 'mips1' and 'mips5' are - but can't generate code for it? Why is it like that?
I actually have a more in general questions about processors... If this is the wrong place for it, please ignore it,

Understanding targets
The term "target" is somewhat overloaded.
When llvm-config tells you it was built with the X86 target, that actually includes a variety of closely related architectures, such as x86_64, i386, and so on. Within the x86_64 architecture, there are many individual processor implementations that LLVM understands, such as Skylake, Bulldozer, and many many more.

[LLVMdev] -indvars issues?
It seems there is no -enable-iv-rewrite now in llvm3.2, and it suggest
-enable-load-pre, but it still does not work.
So, how to active the transform?

[LLVMdev] How to uninstall llvm3.2
Hi
I use the source code to install the llvm to my system.(ubuntu 12.10)
After I make install, I want to uninstall it from my system.
But I found it didn't work.
Message:
make: *** No rule to make target `uninstall'. Stop.
So, do I need to remove the file by hand?
Is there other way to do that?

I had llvm 2.9 installed on ununtu. I tried to build clang but got following error. I have llvm 2.9 and clang is latest version ( I don't know, I got from svn). I am wondering is it because of version problem ?

I find the lldb cannot display structure type information, such as "print ArgLocs.size()" as follows,

[LLVMdev] Fail when building llvm2.9 using MinGW64
I was building llvm2.9 using MinGW64 on windows, msys was 32 bit so I
specified --host option for a cross compiling. Following are my configure
options:
../llvm2.9/configure --prefix=/home/AutoESL/llvm-obj
--host=x86_64-w64-mingw32
--disable-multilib
The error:

It will produce little-endian code if you replace "mips" with "mipsel".
1. clang -ccc-host-triple mipsel-unknown-linux -ccc-clang-archs mipsel -O3
-S -emit-llvm foo.c -o foo.ll
2. llc -march=mipsel -mcpu=4ke foo.ll -o foo.s (the -march option is
redundant)
If you do not specify the target cpu with -mcpu, by default it will generate

performance of your binaries is much worse than the stable binaries
for 3.2

Looking at the clang binary, it's got a /home/ dir in RPATH:

This will slow things down if the system tries to automount /home/aadgrand.

[LLVMdev] Python Backend
Hi,
I have a version of the old CBackend which is working with the current
trunk.
I am in the progress of rewriting it into a new version but that project
is not going as fast as I would hope as I have been distracted by other
tasks with higher priority lately.
Anyway, for those interested, I can provide patches, optionally
separated into several parts (core, testing, misc).

[LLVMdev] Cross-compile to ARM using Code Sourcery Lite Toolchain

I am new to LLVM and would like to cross-compile LLVM 2.9 on x86
(Ubuntu) to ARM using Code Sourcery LIte toolchain for ARM EABI
(2011.03-41).
This is the command I used to configure:
./configure --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --host=arm-none-linux-gnueabi
--target=arm-none-linux-gnueabi
followed by:
make -C llvm.2.9 ENABLE_OPTIMIZED=0
