[LLVMdev] Cannot use function pass in a module pass
Thanks, John. There were a couple of function declarations in the module, and 'getAnalysis' failed for those. By the way, what do you mean by "in older versions of LLVM"? I'm quite sure I was using the latest llvm trunk. 2011/6/16 John Criswell <criswell at cs.uiuc.edu>: > On 6/15/11 6:46 PM, Alexey Bakhirkin wrote: >> Hi. I'm trying to implement a module

[LLVMdev] Cannot use function pass in a module pass
Hi. I'm trying to implement a module pass which can be dynamically loaded by `opt` (against up-to-date llvm from svn). Despite what the tutorial (http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html) states in my module pass I cannot perform getAnalysis and fetch the function pass result. When trying to do so `opt` fails with the following mesage: [***@*** ***]$ opt -load

[LLVMdev] CostModelAnalysis for 3.0 release
Thanks a lot for the reply, Nadav! I see that using the cost model in target-independent analysis is not good. But I really like the idea of having instruction cost estimation available. Also the reason I can't directly move to 3.2 code base is that it fails to compile(produce bc files) big project like MySQL, where 3.0 has no problem. Right now, I'm trying to hard code a particular

[LLVMdev] Do all user-written passes have to be run through a PassManager object (called from outside the LLVM infrastructure)?
I have written several passes that have no pre-requisites for any previous LLVM native passes prior to my own. For those passes, I have verified that at least the following two approaches are equivalent in terms of executing those self-written passes and getting the correct results: #if METHOD_1 PassManager PM;

[LLVMdev] how can I have LoopInfo in a module pass?
Hi all, I tried to have a LoopInfo object in a function pass, add addRequired<LoopInfo> in getAnalysisUsage, and then use getAnalysis<LoopInfo> in runOnFunction(). It worked OK. Now I want to have a module pass to traverse the functions, and similarly I want to have to loop information of the functions. When I did the above in runOnModule, and run the pass, the following error popped

Hi, Well, yes i did try your suggestion but i keep on running into a compilation problem. [LLVMdev] Requiring a pass to run before/after a pass? (Adding PHIs and updating uses)
Is there a simple way to require a pass, e.g., Reg2Mem/Mem2Reg, to run before/after my transformation pass? Or do I do something like: struct myOpt { myOpt() { mBefore = createDemoteRegisterToMemoryPass(); mAfter = createPromoteMemoryToRegisterPass(); } getAnalysisUsage(AU) { AU.addRequired(my stuff); mBefore.getAnalysisUsage(AU); mAfter.getAnalysisUsage(AU); }

How do you expect people to be able to tell you if you are using it properly if they can't see how you are using it? The test usage of this pass looks like this: void getAnalysisUsage(AnalysisUsage &AU) const { AU.addRequired<LoopInfo>(); AU.addRequired<MParSchedule>(); AU.setPreservesAll(); } and then in the
