[LLVMdev] sample of running google c++ lint script
Did you agree with the comment about the use of long long from the tool? Anyway, it's not really important to me that we adopt any specific google code rules over the current llvm rule. The point is to that Google has a deeper set of conventions and it would be a good starting point for us. Also, they have a tool which checks a lot of this. The lack of a tool for llvm style check is what

While humorous, let's dial back the trolling at this point. =] This discussion is a largely serious discussion, and shouldn't get derailed. Discussing whether whitespace is technical debt, i hope that's not a serious discussion :) It doesn't even meet wikipedia's somewhat muddled

puppet-lint
Hi everyone, Is it possible not to notify error with puppet-lint when "trailing whitespace" are found in a comment line? Just asking. splint / lint-like syntax checker for R
Greetings - Does CRAN or someone similar make a splint / lint-like syntax checker for R? I realize that both ESS and the debug package and similar tools have debugging and error analysis features, but those appear to require running the code through the R buffer. I'd like something that did basic syntax and object-name verification for code that was to run in batch, as a precursor to

A preliminary design for an external DB for rsync
I've put some thought into adding DB support to rsync (in a future release). This would allow it to maintain some extra information about files and be able to lookup information rapidly. This would support things like caching of checksum information, finding files to hard-link with, saving file attributes separately from the files (allowing non-root preservation of full file attributes as

Highlighting trailing whitespaces on Phab?
So, I forwarded the request for highlighting trailing whitespaces to phabricator upstream (https://secure.phabricator.com/T11879), and upstream folks suggest we enable the Lint feature in Arcanist ( https://secure.phabricator.com/book/phabricator/article/arcanist_lint/). This will enforce the check when `arc diff` is run (reviewers wouldn't see the warnings though). There are two linters we

[LLVMdev] svn pre-commit hook: help needed
On a related note, I wrote a few scripts to detect and correct some types of such style errors, see llvm/utils/lint/* . I also added a function to llvm/utils/vim/vimrc to delete trailing whitespace and highlight existing trailing whitespace -- if anyone's an Emacs-lisp hacker, please add it to the emacs config file as well. Sure, this doesn't enforce anything, but I'm hoping folks

[LLVMdev] update simple style checker... handle globs and recursion now
When I run this now on the Target branch alone, it finds 22,000 errors from just simple things like lines too long, tabs and whitespace at the end of lines. More features to come. Usage: style_check.py arg1 arg2 ... argn [options] Options: -h, --help show this help message and exit --no-check-for-tabs don't check for tabs --no-check-line-length

puppet-lint error
Hi, this is not strictly puppet related but I am hoping someone here who uses puppet-lint can tell me what is going on here......... $ puppet-lint init.pp /Users/jc/.rvm/rubies/ruby-1.9.3-p125/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.9.1/ rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require'': iconv will be deprecated in the future, use String#encode instead.

Wine and a simple text-mode program (Gimpel PC-Lint)
I am trying to run Gimpel's PC-Lint under Wine, and am running into trouble. It is a simple DOS text-mode program, nothing fancy, no graphics, uses stdin, stdout, and stderr. It is invoked thus: In the batch file LIN.BAT: wine Lint-nt +v -i"C:\Lint" "C:\Lint\std.lnt" File std.lnt is a list of optional parameters to Lint-nt that contains this: lnt\au-sm.lnt gnu.lnt
