[LLVMdev] VMKit compilation error
Hi,
I have a problem with compiling the new revision, the file Sifsegv_gc makes
a call to the file Sigsegv.cpp but returns as file already allocated:

[LLVMdev] problems building vmkit
Hi All,
Thanks Nicolas for pointing out that I needed --enable-targets=x86,cpp for
my
llvm config to get vmkit to build. The process gets a lot farther but fails
in
different places depending upon the vmkit config (Can you please see the
three
case below?).
My machine is a intel core i7 running ubuntu karmic and gcc 4.4.1.
What arch/OS/distro/gcc do you all have VMKit working on?

[LLVMdev] [vmkit] Errors compiling vmkt
Hi Chris,
For the moment you can install VMKit following these instructions:
http://vmkit2.gforge.inria.fr/start.php
VMKit's web page and repository will be updated soon.

[LLVMdev] VMKit Boehm MMTk Compilation
For anyone who encounters this issue in the future, my issue was the
configuration of llvm-gcc.
Configure with --with-llvmgccdir=YOUR/PATH doesn't work, instead you
are supposed to use --with-llvmgcc=PATH/TO/llvm-gcc and
--with-llvmgxx=/PATH/TO/llvm-g++
That will at least get you past my error.
Best,
Kyle

[LLVMdev] [vmkit] Errors compiling vmkt
Hi all,
I hope this is the correct place to post such questions? I am building
vmkit for the first time, following the instructions on the get_started
page (with one deviation: in step 4 I ran ./configure in my vmkit
directory and therefore did not need to cd at the start of step 5. Is
this correct?). Build platform is 64-bit CrunchBang Linux 11 "Waldorf",
based on Debian Wheezy.

[LLVMdev] VMKIT: Assertion at build
Thanks Favios for finding the problem! I have applied a patch to
Makefile.rules, hopefully it now works without you editing some files.
About VMKIT_SRC_ROOT and PROJ_SRC_ROOT, it is fine to have both in the
code. I find it clearer to use VMKIT_SRC_ROOT.

Hi Fovios,
Do you have a ./lib/j3/LLVMRuntime/LLVMRuntime.inc file being generated?
What does it contain?

It is compiled by javac to produce Java bytecode. Then vmkit runs the
initialization code of MMTk (through the JIT) and generates the binary code
through llvm.

[LLVMdev] A bunch of errors while installing VMKit and compiling LLVM
Hi Sergii,
I think there is a problem in your configure command for VMKit. If you look
at what you provide for glibj:
--with-gnu-classpath-glibj="/home/svozniuk/llvm/classpath-0.97.2
I don't think it's right. You should change it to:
--with-gnu-classpath-glibj="/home/svozniuk/llvm/classpath-0.97.2/lib/glibj.zip
Also please make sure that you have created the links for the

[LLVMdev] Making VMKit2
Hi Nicolas,
I am so sorry for the questions. According to you, I built VMKit2 on Ubuntu11.10-desktop-amd64 on Intel(R) Corei5, and the previous problem solved. But another one appeared! With the following configuration:
elaheh at elaheh-Lenovo-G470:~/Desktop/vmkit2$ ./configure --with-llvmsrc=/home/elaheh/Desktop/llvm/ --with-llvmobj=/home/elaheh/Desktop/llvm/

[LLVMdev] VMKIT: Assertion at build
Hi Nicolas,
I finally found the root of the problem. Build was unable to locate
llvm-build because it was looking for it in
path/to/vmkit_src/utils/llvm-build while it was located in
path/to/llvm_src/utils/llvm-build
Actually llvm-build's path is defined by the
path/to/llvm_src/Makefile.rules and looks like this
LLVMBuildTool := $(PROJ_SRC_ROOT)/utils/llvm-build/llvm-build

Still the same.
Is there any chance that the placement of my directories are causing this?
Also the exact command that fails is

[LLVMdev] [VMKit-2.7] libvmjc.so building problem
I followed instructions in this page to setup my environment:
http://vmkit.llvm.org/get_started.html
My llvm, llvm-gcc, and vmkit are not SVN version.
All of them are downloaded from this page:
http://llvm.org/releases/download.html#2.7
GNU classpath is downloaded from:
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/classpath/classpath-0.97.2.tar.gz
PNet & PNetlib are not used because I just want the JVM.

Hi Akshat,
Please use version 0.97.2. vmkit does not support 0.98.
Also, it should be fine to not compile gtk+ peer.

This error usually shows up when vmkit cannot find the classpath libs and
jar. Make sure --with-gnu-classpath-libs points to the directory of .so
files are, and that --with-gnu-classpath-glibj points to glibj.zip.

[LLVMdev] VMKit: Problem compiling vmkit
Hi,
I'm trying to compile vmkit but am running into some problems. I
followed the instructions at http://vmkit.llvm.org/get_started.html and
checked out llvm and clang from svn, compiled them no problem and the
same with classpath 0.97.2. I then checked out vmkit from svn and tried
to build it. All these are located at
/home/callum/vmkit/{llvm,classpath-0.97.2,vmkit}.

Thanks Nicolas,
I do have --with-gnu-classpath-libs and --with-gnu-classpath-glibj
pointing to the right thing, but I have gnu class path 0.98 instead of 0.97
and its the non X version.
So I do not have the libgtkpeer.so.
Maybe that is the reason why it is crashing. Unfortunately, I am not able to
compile GNU class path with gtk+ peer right now.
Will give it a try on the mac.
Thanks,
Akshat

I just noticed there was some .h move around in llvm and fixed the includes
in vmkit. Maybe you were just removing the failing includes?
In any case, I have updated vmkit for llvm trunk. Let me know if updating
helps.
