[LLVMdev] How to get ELF section virtual starting address from MCSymbolRefExpr?
Yeh, I eventually figured that out.
Thanks for responding though.

aov with Error and lme
Hi
I searched in the list and only found questions
without answers e.g.
http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/19955.html
: Is there a way to get the same results with lme as
with aov with Error()?
Can anybody reproduce the following results with lme:
id<-c(1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,5,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,5,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,5)

summation coding
I would like to code the following in R: a1(b1+b2+b3) + a2(b1+b3+b4) +
a3(b1+b2+b4) + a4(b1+b2+b3)
or in summation notation: sum_{i=1, j\neq i}^{4} a_i * b_i
I realise this is the same as: sum_{i=1, j=1}^{4} a_i * b_i - sum_{i=j} a_i
* b_i
would appreciate some help.
Thank you.

How to "flatten" a multidimensional array into a dataframe?
Hi,
I have a three dimensional array, e.g.,
my.array = array(0, dim=c(2,3,4), dimnames=list( d1=c("A1","A2"),
d2=c("B1","B2","B3"), d3=c("C1","C2","C3","C4")) )
what I would like to get is then a dataframe:
d1 d2 d3 value
A1 B1 C1 0
A2 B1 C1 0
.
.
.
A2 B3 C4 0
I'm sure there is one function to do

how to calculate a variance and covariance matrix for a vector
Hello,
I have a vector {a, b1, b2, b3, b4}. How can I calculate the following
matrix:

cov(a, b1) var(b1) cov(a, b2) cov(a, b3) cov(a, b4)
...

cov(a, b1) cov(a, b2) cov(a, b3) cov(a, b4) var(b4)
I would very appreciate your inputs. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,

Discrete choice model maximum likelihood estimation
Hello,
I am new to R and I am trying to estimate a discrete model with three
choices. I am stuck at a point and cannot find a solution.
I have probability functions for occurrence of these choices, and then I
build the likelihood functions associated to these choices and finally I
build the general log-likelihood function.
There are four parameters in the model, three of them are associated to

Converting PROC NLMIXED code to NLME
Hi,
I am trying to convert the following NLMIXED code to NLME, but am
running into problems concerning 'Singularity in backsolve'. As I am new
to R/S-Plus, I thought I may be missing something in the NLME code.

Removing & generating data by category
Dear R users,
Basically, from the following arbitrary data set:

mixed effects with nlme
Dear R users:
I have some difficulties analizing data with mixed effects NLME and the
last version of R. More concretely, I have a repeated measures design with
a single group and 2 experimental factors (say A and B) and my interest is
to compare additive and nonadditive models.

Selecting and then joining data blocks
Hi all,
I have 4 matrices, each having 5 columns and 4 rows .....denoted by
B1,B2,B3,B4.
I have generated a vector of 7 indices, say (1,2,4,3,2,3,1} which refers to
the index of the matrices to be chosen and then appended one on the top of
the next: like, in this case, I wish to have the following mega matrix:
B1over B2 over B4 over B3 over B2 over B3 over B1.
1> How can I achieve this?

nls.control
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to test the accurracy of R on the Eckerle4 dataset from NIST and
I don't understand how the control option of the nls function works.
I tought nls(...) was equivalent to nls(...control=nls.control()) i.e nls.control() was the default value of control, but here is the error I get :

Converting a string vector with names to a numeric vector with names
Not paying close attention to detail, I entered the equivalent of
pstr<-c("b1=200", "b2=50", "b3=0.3")
when what I wanted was
pnum<-c(b1=200, b2=50, b3=0.3)
There was a list thread in 2010 that shows how to deal with un-named vectors, but the same
lapply solution doesn't seem to work here i.e.,
pnum<-lapply(pstr, as.numeric)
or similar vapply

big edge list to adjacency matrix
I have huge list of edges with weights.
a1 b1 w1
a2 b2 w2
a3 b3 w3
a1 b1 w4
a3 b1 w5
I have to convert it into 2 dim matrix
b1 b2 b3
a1 max(w1,w4) 0 0
a2 0 w2 0
a3 w5 0 w3
if edges repeated take the maximum weights. How do this efficiently without
using for loop? Any idea.
thanks

Hallo HelpeRs,
I try to reconstruct some results from an econometric text book

extract columns of a matrix/data frame
Hello all,
I have a matrix whose column names look like
a1 a2 b1 b2 b3 c1 c2
1 2 3 7 1 3 2
4 6 7 8 1 4 3
Now, I can have any number of a's. not just two as shown above and same goes for b's and c's. I need to extract all the a's columns and put them in another matrix, extract all b's columns and put them in some matrix

rearrange data
Dear all:
I have this:
A1 B1 C1 D1 E1
A2 B2 C2 D2 E2
A3 B3 C3 D3 E3
And I want this
A1 E1
B1 E1
C1 E1
D1 E1
A2 E2
B2 E2
C2 E2
D2 E2
A3 E3
B3 E3
C3 E3
D3 E3
Example:
m<- matrix(1:15,nrow=3,byrow=T)
m
v<- unlist(list(t(m[,1:4])))
u<- rep(c(5,10,15),c(4,4,4))
data.frame(v,u)
This is the result I want but I would like to learn a simpler way to do it.
Any clue?

How to name matrices from a list with lapply ?
Dear list,
I have a list of matrices :
i1 <- matrix(1:10, nrow = 2, ncol = 5)
i2 <- matrix(11:20, nrow = 2, ncol = 5)
j <- list(i1 = i1, i2 = i2)
I would like to attribute names to each dimension, for each matrix,
as follows :
$i1
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5
A1 1 3 5 7 9
A2 2 4 6 8 10
$i2
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5
A1 11 13 15 17 19
A2 12 14 16 18 20
However, I have to use lapply function and attribute
