Problem with "--relative" and symlinks
There appears to be a problem with the handling of symlinks within source
directories by the --relative (-R) option.
I am using rsync 2.5.5 on an SGI Origin 200 running IRIX 6.5.11f.
Example: copying the contents of /usr/local/etc/inhouse/db/ from wolf
to fox where /usr/local is a directory on wolf, but /usr/local is a link
to /usr2/local on fox.
Here's the dry-run output (some

AstriCon Update: Very Low Priced Ground Transport Available
-- GOOD NEWS! --
As ground transportation and the costs associated therewith are something of
an issue. So, in the spirit of making AstriCon available I've contacted the
hotel and arranged/discovered some low cost options:

MARTA, the Atlanta mass-transit system (i.e. train) can get you there. Take

hotline with Polycom
Hi All,
This is more of a hardware question that an Asterisk question so I hope
this is still the correct place for the post.
I know with the Linksys phones you can create a hotline by using the
dial string of (S0<:number>). I have been trying to do this with a
PolyCom phone but I have not been very successful.
Does anyone know how to create a hotline phone with a PolyCom?

glmer.nb: function not in downloaded lme4 package?
Dear R Help,
I would like to use the glmer.nb function for mixed modelling using negative binomial distribution please.
On the CRAN website apparently this function is called from the lme4 package (version 0.99999911-1).
I have downloaded the latest version of the lme4 package (version 0.999999-2) and have recently reinstalled the latest version of 64-bit R (version 3.0.1) but after

It was twenty years ago today...
Xapian has turned 20!
Strictly speaking it was 20 years ago last month but I managed to miss
the true anniversary - the oldest commit in the Xapian repo is:

6 channel encoding
It appears that either Vorbis was never intended to support more than 2
channels
or the algorithm doesn't work for low sound levels. In trying to encode
Beauty and the Beast and Starwars II using 6 channels, the Vorbis
encoder produced
noise in all the scenes were audio dropped below -25 dB. Unfortunately
since most
dialog is below -25 dB, the Vorbis encodings are unintelligable for most

decoder with special features needed: pointers, ideas?
Hi everybody,
I want to use a ogg-equipped notebook for playing music for (folk and
ballroom) dancing,
and a player for this should have two features I' like to find or implement:
(1) I want the middle part of a song repeat "endlessly", with two track marks
that I want to hide somewhere in a vorbis comment.
(One day I want to control that with a gui or SIGUSR1 or something else,

I was wondering if I would use my Free phone line with Bellster as well, but I am
not sure this is authorized by the ISP :

Expanding my answering-machine system
OK, this is how I thought it's supposed to work. It just confounded me
why the book would say the Playback() and Background() syntax were the
same, then in the very next paragraph give an example that belied that
claim.

[LLVMdev] Suggestions for LLVM Developer's Conference 2012
One idea for a hacking session would be a "performance analysis workshop". People could bring their apps, we could sample them track down what part of the compiler would need to change and code it up (if time allowed).
Given the trade offs involved, it could be helpful to many folks, the trick is to get the right people to show up.
