instantrails and oneclick
Today I return to Ruby after 12 months. I find I have several
installations, including Ruby 1.9!? Decided to rationlise things a bit
before starting to learn Ruby again from scratch. Rails is hot stuff and
I find I also had an old version of InstantRails (this is an XP
machine... calm down now, it''s all I''ve got (well not quite, but I''ll
come to that later)).

One-Click Ruby Installer 186-26 Release Candidate 1
This updates Ruby to 1.8.6 patch level 111 (lots
of bug fixes since 1.8.6 was released). It also
updates most of the included extensions to their
latest versions (see the change log).
The final release won''t happen until after
RubyGems 0.9.5 is released (which should be any
day now) because we want the latest RubyGems
version to be included. However, we''re putting out

WEBrick Bad File Descriptor Error
All of a sudden I have a wierd error when running script/server on a
Windows XP box. Webrick is failing with a bad file descriptor error.
I''m sure it''s conflicting with something in my enviornment, but I
cannot figure out what. I googled the issue and haven''t been able to
find any answer for it.
Although, I did find a workaround. If I''m using a port above

Should I uninstall everything to install InstantRails?
Please help me I am brand new to this.
I have been following this tutorial from OnLamp
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html
which tells you how to install ruby, rails and mySQL and get going.
Doing this tutorial convinced me RoR was the way to go for me.
So I got hold of this e-book:

RadRails plus InstantRails
RadRails requires Ruby and Rails to be installed first.
Will it work ok with InstantRails providing the Ruby + Rails part?
Or do people recommend avoiding InstantRails when installing RadRails?

InstantRails works with WEBrick, fails with SCGI
I have an app that I''ve been developing for some time with RADRails and
WEBrick locally. I wanted to take it to Apache and following the
following steps:
1) Downloaded and extracted InstantRails.
2) Started and tested cookbook with SCGI. Works great.
3) Copied my app over to rails_apps directory.
4) Added a virtual host to Apache identical to cookbook (just using port

InstantRails and SQLite
Hy,
I''m using InstantRails for my RoR developments and it is really great.
However I have a little problem since a few days. Here is the
situation, I''m using InstantRails 2.0 with PHP 5.2.6 (I upgraded
following the InstantRails procedure). I''m using MySQL as a database
for my application but recently downloaded a forum (FluxBB) which need
SQLite to work. My problem is

Instantrails and tiddlywiki
Hi all,
I''m trying to setup instantrails to serve a tiddlywiki web page. This
web page has the ability to upload the edited file back to the server
and overwrite the original. This requires a ruby .cgi script to be run
and this is where the problem lies. I cannot get the ruby script to run
although the page is served fine. I was using easyphp before and this
was working fine but

Solution for autospec not working
Hello,
I have noticed that, since version 1.1.4, autotest/autospec does not run any
of my specs. After getting a hint from
http://b.logi.cx/2008/10/9/non-auto-spec, I dove a bit deeper into the code
and found that spec is no longer being run by ruby.
I monkey-patched Autotest::Rspec in my .autotest file so that spec is again
executed (using code taken from version 1.1.4). autospec is now

InstantRails - command "rails" does not work
Hey,
I installed InstantRails 1.7 (on Windows XP Home). I unzipped it with
7-Zip in D:\InstantRails (no spaces in pathname + short pathname) to
avoid UnZip-problems. I followed the installation instructions. The
cookbook-example works fine.
But when I want to create an own project with "rails projectname", my
computer says something like "The command "rails" is either

InstantRails, ruby downgrade to 1.8.2 issue.
Hello,
I''ve been using InstantRails 1.0 that has ruby 1.8.4 and rails 1.0. Some of
you might know that the RMagick package does not work with ruby 1.8.4. I''m
now trying to downgrade to ruby 1.8.2 within my InstantRails 1.0 install.
Is there a clean way of doing this? I basically downloaded ruby 1.8.2 and
replaced the ruby directory with the newly created ruby directory. As
