[LLVMdev] Null pointer dereference
Hi all,
Writing my own LLVM client I've noticed a potential null pointer
dereference in EngineBuilder::selectTarget.
The class has an optional pointer to the ErrorStr, which can be initialzied
through setErrorStr() method. Although, it's strictly optional,
selectTarget doesn't verify its value before assignment.
Please find patch for branch release_31, revision 155051 attached.

[LLVMdev] ExecutionEngine always comes back NULL
Hi Rick,
you are right!
But can you call this method EngineBuilder::setErrorStr to get creation
error?
Cheers,

[LLVMdev] Why -jit-emit-debug doesn't work with gdb-7.1 ?

[LLVMdev] Replacing llvm-gcc in Xcode 3.1.1 with svn version
Hello all,
I have replaced the llvm-gcc shipped with the Xcode by the latest
version and I was wondering if I have missed something... (everything
*seems* to work).
Here's what I did:
0. Checkout LLVM (and clang) + llvm-gcc
1. Build LLVM (with clang) and install into /Developer/usr/local :
# mkdir llvmobj
# cd llvmobj
# CC=gcc-4.2 CXX=g++-4.2 ../llvm/configure

[LLVMdev] LLVM Exception Handling
Hi,
I am trying to implement a scenario similar to running ExceptionDemo.cpp
with parameter -1 (where the JITed code calls the C++ function which throws
an exception)
Different from the given example I am using IRParser instead of IRBuilder.
I can successfully catch the exception in Linux but the program crashes in
Mac and Windows.
The code is similar to as follows:

[LLVMdev] Null pointer dereference
Thank you for your response Jim.
As of revision 153342 it applies properly to trunk. No, unfortunately I
don't have access, would you please commit it for me?
Thanks,
Yury

[LLVMdev] Null pointer dereference
Hi Yury,
No need for the "{" "}" since it's a single statement in the compound statement. Other than that minor style detail, this looks fine assuming it applies cleanly to trunk.
Do you have commit access?

[LLVMdev] A problem from XCode 4 - help sought tracking it down
Sorry if this isn't the right place; but I'm facing an XCode 4 (LLVM 2.0
to Apple, I heard it's LLVM 2.9 under the hood) issue that may involve
LLVM, and maybe some people on this list could help me short-circuit the
source.
I have a code pattern that, when used in XCode 4 in Objective C++ files,
causes the whole IDE to go crash. It is a stripped sample to highlight
the issue.

[LLVMdev] --enable-shared doesn't build shared library any more
In r134967 it still worked, and in r137742 it now doesn't.
I used such flags: --enable-assertions --enable-shared --enable-libffi
--enable-debug-runtime --enable-debug-symbols --disable-optimized
Before build would create directory tools/llvm-shlib under the build
tree. Now it is missing.

Opt plugin linkage
The fundamental problem here is that opt doesn’t use ExecutionEngine (because it has no need to), so trying
to use ExecutionEngine (or any other bit of llvm that opt doesn’t use for that matter) in an opt plugin isn’t
going to work.
The solution I’d go with would be to build llvm with shared libraries (use –DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON on the
cmake command) then link the plugin against ExecutionEngine.

I repeted what you did step by step and it still doesn't work for me,
see log below.
Two differences: I am on FreeBSD and it's 32 bit. It's svn revision
105825. Plus I have few unrelated patched applied to it which shouldn't
matter.

[LLVMdev] Why gdb can't determine stack of code run in JIT?
I run some code in JIT on x86-64 architecture.
Even though llvm::NoFramePointerElim is set to true, I still see weird
stack in gdb, see below.
800b485a4 is the current rip register where gdb stopped. Then many
others values aren't valid. Then there is value that looks ok again.
Why gdb can't determine stack?

Ah, then you'll need to update the CallGraph first. Use
"CG.removeFunctionFromModule(F);" before deleting it.

[cfe-dev] llvm.org pre-built clang significantly slower than apple/xcode clang
I don’t think Apple disable assertion on the release build. I remember having clang and llvm crash because of assertion failure regularly at some point in the past.
Nowadays, it is far more unusual to get a clang crash, so I can’t tell, but I doubt they change the configuration.
