centos vault
We are in need of a remote mirror that provides rsync capabilities for vaulted centos releases. Specifically centos 4.3 but we'll need 4.4 when it is vaulted too. Any helpful links to information on this or a reputable mirror would be fantastic. Thanks.

debuginfo and debuginfo-common for PAE with systemtap
I want to use systemtap on a 5.3 system but cannot find supporting kernel-PAE-debuginfo or kernel-debuginfo-common packages. Am I being a noob, or do these not exist for the PAE kernel? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... MooseFS repository
Hi, A repository for MooseFS is just born. It provides CentOS 5.5 SRPMS, i386 and x86_64. cd /etc/yum.repos.d/; wget http://centos.kodros.fr/moosefs.repo ; yum install mfs Two points: - DNS may not be up to date where you are. The subdomain has just been created. Please be patient. - I have made an update to the .spec file, to move config files to /etc/mfs instead of /etc. I had no time to test

Memory reporting...
Hi, I have a little question about memory usage... When I do a free, I get: total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 18482800 18030668 452132 0 683068 9426792 -/+ buffers/cache: 7920808 10561992 But, when I do a ps, mysql is the only process that takes noticable memory; and it is far from 7.9GBs... Intel G33 Compatibility for Centos Server
Been running rock solid servers on Centos 3 and 4 for years but equipment is starting to die so it is time. I was thinking along the lines of an Intel Q6600 on an Asus P5K-VM mobo with the new G33 chipset utilizing SATA. Is anyone having success with this board or any of the G33 chipsets where I am not going to run into all kinds of install problems? I see these other threads of install

More than 2TB RAID...
Hi, I just received a new server (HP DL180G5) with 12x 1TB HDs and I bumped into fdisks 2TB limits... Since this is an entry level server, I can't use the classic HP bootable utilities to create smaller volumes et can only create a big RAID6. I found out that: using parted, labelling it gpt and creating the partitions would do the trick. But, what about grub? I read that it does not support

libFLAC bitbuffer optimizations
Pulled from my Arch archive, this following patch seems to have made quite a difference in getting my ARM7TDMI chip to play FLAC (compression levels 0-2) on my ipod. I don't have benchmarks with hard numbers, but playing with skips vs playing without skips is a fairly noticeable difference. memcpy and memset on uClibc are optimized in asm for the ARM7TDMI in uClibc. SSH Question relating to Public and Private Keys
Hi People, The Linux Environment I am responsible for is using ssh key pairs to allow access to a number or accounts on a number Linux Servers. I currently have the opportunity to re-design some of this. So I would like to tap into peoples experiences to see what might be some good changes to make. Specifically I have a couple of questions 1. Currently all of the key pairs we are using

Erratic / unstable PDC
Greetings all, I have a problem with my Samba server seeming to hang for 10 seconds every 5 minutes or so. Client machines also become sluggish across the entire network during this period. It does not seem to affect file transfers that are in progress. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. segfaults with 8 gig of ram
Hello All. I have five Centos 4.4 x86_64 (amd fx-62) boxes with 4 gig of Corsair dual channel ram running kernel 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL (smp). The sixth box is the same except for video card and ram. It is using 8gig of GSkill dual channel ram and has a very cheap ATI video card in it. This box will segfault on boot unless I use noapic acpi=off and nolapic. Even with these boot params, the box is not

"keep qlp coeff precision such that only 32-bit math is required"
stream_encoder.c has the following code: /* try to keep qlp coeff precision such that only 32-bit math is required for decode of <=16bps streams */ if(subframe_bps <= 16) { ... But FLAC can convert 16-bit input to 17-bit if mid-side coding is used. So, does it make sense to compare subframe_bps with 17? (The patch is attached. What do you think about it?) -------------- next part

Problems when using libFLAC to encode 24 bit content
Hi everybody, We have FLAC supported for input/output in REAPER (http://www.reaper.fm), and the problem is that when writing 24 bit FLAC files, the data isn't compressed (i.e. the FLAC is slightly larger than if it was writing to .WAV). The files play back fine, however, and 16 bit mode works great. We're using flac-1.1.2, built on win32 with MSVC6 w/ SP5 + VCPP, and NASM version 0.98.39

Testing Specific Hypothesis
Hi All! I am interested in testing whether the means for the data I am investigating are equal to a specific value - let's say 0.01. I have already run a one-way ANOVA and know that the differences in the means are not significant, so now I want to know what values the means take on. "otestme" is the data I am working with (it would be hard for me to get into a form that would be
