[LLVMdev] Error in Hello World Pass
Hi, I am trying to compile the Hello World pass (described at http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html#basiccode) in an LLVM Project and I get an error, 'no match for ‘operator<<’ at line llvm::cerr << "*Hello: *" << F.getName() << "\n"; But when I looked up in the LLVM API Documentation, I think "<<" operator is not overloaded

[LLVMdev] About adding a pass into llvm
I have seen INITIALIZE_PASS(LiveVariables, "livevars", "Live Variable Analysis", false, false); in the llvm/lib/codegen/LiveVariables.cpp, where LiveVariables is a subclass of MachineFunctionPass, and #define INITIALIZE_PASS(passName, arg, name, cfg, analysis) \ static RegisterPass<passName> passName ## _info(arg, name, cfg, analysis) in PassSupport.h Is this code used

[LLVMdev] RFH: passing options from clang down to opt
On Tue, Oct 1, 2013 at 3:42 PM, Rafael Espíndola <rafael.espindola at gmail.com> wrote: > You are calling the option -auto-profile in some places and > -fauto-profile in others. Maybe it is just a typo? In opt, the option is named '-auto-profile' when I instantiate the pass: INITIALIZE_PASS(AutoProfile, "auto-profile", "Auto Profile loader", false,

Looking for an out-of-source "Hello, world" LLVM/Clang pass example
I'm looking for a "Hello, world" pass example that ideally has all of the following properties: 1) Complete. That is, it should have functional CMakeLists.txt, etc. files. 2) Out-of-source. That is, it should build against a binary LLVM installation. 3) Modern. That is, I don't want to use any deprecated APIs or CMake macros. 4) Clang-compatible.

I had actually recently stumbled across that page (and the GitHub repository it references, https://github.com/sampsyo/llvm-pass-skeleton)

Guidelines for pass initialization?
Let me rephrase to make sure I understand. Once we have this settled, I'll update the comments in the file to summarize and possibly update the docs. On 08/21/2015 10:27 AM, Owen Anderson wrote: > The macro versions should be preferred, as they reduce static initializaters. Makes sense. But the tradeoff is that they need to be baked into the list of known passes so that someone knows

[LLVMdev] LLVM Hello Pass load error when using opt -load Hello.so
While learning to write LLVM passes and following the precise instructions under http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html, <http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html> I got this error when loading the hello pass to run the test program: opt -load ./Release/lib/Hello.so -hello < test/test.bc > /dev/null Error opening './Release/lib/Hello.so': ./Release/lib/Hello.so:

[LLVMdev] LLVM Hello Pass load error when using opt -load Hello.so
Hey Chuck, I'm afraid I can't reproduce your error but...a problem you may run into later is that opt will complain with opt: llvm/lib/VMCore/Pass.cpp:149: void<unnamed>::PassRegistrar::RegisterPass(const llvm::PassInfo&): Assertion `Inserted && "Pass registered multiple times!"' failed. Aborted I "fixed" this by replacing the LLVMLIBS line in

[LLVMdev] InstructionCombining.cpp inconsistency in whether it modifies the CFG?
InstCombine says in its getAnalysisUsage that it preserves the CFG, but for the 4th argument in its INITIALIZE_PASS call, it says false, which I believe corresponds to whether it preserves the CFG. Is this a mistake, or is there deeper meaning here? InstructionCombining.cpp:73-82 char InstCombiner::ID = 0; INITIALIZE_PASS(InstCombiner, "instcombine", "Combine

[LLVMdev] Moving on from Hello World
Hello everybody, I've been following the guide at ( http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html ) for Writing a llvm pass that outputs Hello World. After a little bit of help from Stackoverflow, this is now working fine and running. My problem is that I'm struggling to get much further on from the hello world example - I've not been able to find the write incantation to access else

[LLVMdev] compile errors with demo projects Stacker and Hello
Hi all! I have sucessfully installed LLVM 1.9 under FreeBSD on a x86 PC. I have successfully executed "An Example Using the LLVM Tool Chain" that is written in the document http://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html When I tried out the demo projects "Hello" and "Stacker" I get compile errors. When I run "gmake" in the directory

[LLVMdev] Upgrading to llvm-2.9
Hi, Is the RegisterPass interface still supported, or do we have to use the INITIALIZE_PASS construct to register passes? Guidelines for pass initialization?
Does anyone know what the guidelines are supposed to be for properly initializing a pass? Looking around, we seem to have three styles of pass registration in use. INITIALIZE_PASS(...) INITIALIZE_PASS_BEGIN(...) INITIALIZE_PASS_DEPENDENCY(...) ... INITIALIZE_PASS_END(...) static RegisterPass<FooPass> X(...); (This is the one encouraged in the docs, but seemingly the least widely used

[LLVMdev] InstructionCombining.cpp inconsistency in whether it modifies the CFG?
Hi Michael, > InstCombine says in its getAnalysisUsage that it preserves the CFG, > but for the 4th argument in its INITIALIZE_PASS call, it says false, > which I believe corresponds to whether it preserves the CFG. that argument should be set to true if the pass only looks at the CFG, i.e. whatever it computes/does is only a function of the CFG, and doesn't otherwise depend on what

[LLVMdev] About writing a modulePass in addPreEmitPass() for NVPTX
I try to use INITIALIZE_PASS instead of RegisterPass<> to register my pass, though I don't understand what's their difference and how it works because its documents doesn't exist. But it still doesn't work. Parts of my codes is as follows: in NVPTXTest.h namespace llvm { void initializeNVPTXTestPass(PassRegistry &r); class NVPTXTest : public ModulePass { public:

[LLVMdev] compile errors with demo projects Stacker and Hello
If I remember correctly, you get the following warning when you configure LLVM: configure:2087: WARNING: Unknown project (Stacker) won't be configured automatically That leads would lead me to believe that you need to run configure inside llvm/projects/Stacker (and inside llvm/projects/Hello) before you run gmake inside of them. I don't know for sure, but perhaps that might fix
