FXListBox size behavior?
The default behavior of FXListBox seems to be to grow and shrink in width depending on the length of the selected entry in the list. This is a problem when the list contains items of varying width, because if a short item is picked then the longer entries are obscured in the drop-down list. Is this deliberate, an oversight, or a bug? Its certainly not how I''d choose it to act. Is

First hit on app takes a long time
So, I''ve deployed my first rails app, however I''m the only one hitting it for now. I''ve noticed that the first time I hit the app after some long period, it takes a really long time to respond (2-3 seconds). After that, it''s very fast. At first, I thought it might be my VPS "waking up" from some sleep state, but Rails does log the long load time

FXlistBox.fillItems() segmentation fault - Found Work-around
As my prior posts show, I was getting very random segmentation faults when repeatedly clearing items from a listbox and then repopulating the items. I was using the following statements: mylistbox.clearItems() mylistbox.fillItems(new_list) This would work for awhile, but after enough iterations of clearing and replacing the items in the listbox it would segmentation faults at the .fillItems

Converting Number into Integer in ruby
I am working with a legacy oracle database. The primary key is not defined as an integer but as a number. This results in a url with an id as a number, such as 1234.0 instead of 1234. It works fine, but I would prefer 1234 to be displayed in the url. I have attempted to redefine the model id method to convert to an integer using to_i method, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks, Vaibhav -- Posted via

mdiclient windows do not always activate on click
I just noticed that MDIClient windows do not automatically become current when they receive a mouse click, but only do so if the click happens inside of an enabled widget. This may very well be correct, but if so then what is the right way to handle it, if you want a more familiar window-manager behavior (click to focus)? For example, if you change the mditest.rb example like so... ---

distributing rails apps for localhost usage
Has anyone come across any interesting ways to make rails apps easily distributable to run on a local machine. I''d love to be able to "bundle" my rails app into a single file that would contain a simple webserver, database and my rails app which a non-experienced user could then download install on their machine, go to a web browser and run the app locally. I envision it

Speex for TI 5509 DSP
I saw a thread in the list archives about a speex port to TI 55x DSP. Wondering how that worked out (is working out)? Also wondering if there is a source archive for it, or if the patch in the email archives is still current, or if there's been updates. Any info appreciated. Thanks Paul

FXRuby 1.6.23 released
Hi fxruby hackers, new version 1.6.23 is out with the following changes. Unfortunately the fxruby.org homepage is down and I don''t have access to it. Therefore I''ve moved the documentation to http://rubydoc.info/github/larskanis/fxruby/1.6/frames and converted to yard. Have fun! === 1.6.23 / 2012-03-08 * Add YARD documentation support * Use generated Manifest.txt * Support

Speex for TI 5509 DSP
Jamey, There is a previous posting in the speex archives with a link to the dsp c5x patch. Archive link: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/2004-October/002847.html Patch link: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/attachments/20041029/facb8c73/spee x-1.1.6-jeh1-0001.bin But that patch is very different (much smaller) then the dsp c5x patch at

speex on TI C5x fixed-point DSP
Greetings, I've just started porting speex to a TI C5509 DSP. It doesn't look like it's going to be too painful, but there are a couple of quirks about the C5x. 1) chars are 16 bits because memory addresses are for 16bit words 2) ints and short are also 16 bits (so sizeof(char) = sizeof(short) = sizeof(int) = 1) 3) the c5x is essentially big endian My plan is to change int and

Ferret 0.9.0-alpha (port of Apache Lucene to pure ruby)
Hi Folks, I''ve just released version 0.9.0. This latest version of Ferret is an alpha release. I have removed the old c extension and Ferret is now running on a fully ported C library. This has allowed some huge performance improvements both with regard to memory and CPU usage. There will probably be a few portability issues to start with. It has been developed on Linux so it should
