Contractor needed for MSVC wrapper to Loess
Hi,
Our firm is looking to see if it is possible to wrap some of more advanced lib
in R like modreg.dll and specifically Loess function in there for both
regression and prediction into MSVC++. We will probably take it to either VB or
Python for implementation issues. Given that locfit has many utitlities built in
for data transformation, this would be a good thing.
  If that's not

Looking for a casual contractor to write R functions and help integrate with Excel
We are a small consulting company that uses R to automate several data
extraction fuctions from SPSS files -- most notably we create powerpoint
slides from a script in Excel (using VBA) which calls R to extract data and
place into Excel using RExcel. We're not specialists, and don't really have
the time to understand R. Our CIO is the only person who even vaguely
understands R, and he does

USB PCI Passthrough System Instability
I recently managed to get PCI Passthrough to work for a Windows HVM
operating under Xen 3.2 on Fedora 8. I needed to get USB ports passed
through to the Windows VM with full hot plug functionality and I was able to
get that working using a Dell 755 with a USB PCI expansion card. However,
when trying to bring the box up to an operational status status I have
encountered some rather severe

Instability with nearly all programs
Hello,
I realize that Wine is still beta software but I've got a question. I
installed Wine on my Win2k/Mandrake8.1 dual boot machine. It thought the
registry was corrupted (it isn't), so I couldn't use it and had to let it
make an imitation. My problem is that the only programs that seem to run
stably on Wine are NotePad and Calc. I was hoping to be able to run

Chan_mobile instability
Hi all,
I'm testing chan_mobile for a couple of months and I'm facing some
instability problems.
I would appreciate if somebody could help me with these issues:
- after a call the bluetooth connection disconnects;
- when I make a outgoing call and the other side answer, sometimes
asterisk is not informed, so it continues to ring my side but the
other side can already hear my voice.

RHEL/CentOS 7.x KVM kernel instability & unreliability
Hello,
I'm managing smaller private virtualization infrastructure, currently based
on CentOS 7.x. In the past we were running mostly on Debian 7 (kernel
3.2.x) and CentOS 6.x without problems.
After we have upgraded to CentOS 7.x, I have experienced occasional
physical host crashes when I did e.g. suspend or resume more virtual
machines OR random virtual machine checkpoint was invalid and VM

incorrect configuration may cause instability
Hi,
When two systems with the same name and key pair try to connect to a
tinc mesh, the whole mesh is dossed.
Situation: a vps is migrated to an other hoster. Access has been
disabled, vps is powered on. Then suddenly after a couple of weeks the
vps is powerd on again causing two vps'es trying to connect with the
same credentials.
I think the result should be that neither of those two nodes

1.3.11 instability on MIPS?

It's simplistic, but have you tried forcing all icecast code to
compile with gdb support enabled, then running it in GDB?

X instability
Hi all,
How does X server work well on dom0 in general?
I''m experiencing frequently drawn gabages and sometimes crashes
and hangs (100% cpu) of certain X applications.
Usually on my deskstop, gnome-panel, sawfish, krxvt, firefox,
and gkrellm are only present.
gnome-panel (and some applets) and firefox crash sometimes.
Sawfish in addition to the two above draws garbage.

ext3 instability in RH8.0?
We've been noticing some problems with ext3 and, in our
case, postfix, that appear to come to light under heavy
disk i/o loading. A previous thread found here
(http://www.redhat.com/mailing-lists/ext3-users/msg04189.html)
documents an identical set of symptons (and similar setup),
but with RH 7.2
The specifics are this:
   1. Stock install of RH8.0 with postfix.
   2. Linux mx 2.4.18-14 #1

Weird bug: system instability after cat /proc/kcore
Ok, the existence of this bug just blew my mind. It appears that after
coppying /proc/kcore to disk the system starts to behave strangely.
Processes start to sometimes segfault randomly or die with a glibc
double free error. The system is perfectly fine prior to catting
/proc/kcore. I can reproduce this problem on the 2.6.18 kernel from
xen 3.1.0 and 3.1.1-rc2. To trigger it I just have to run

parallel mle/optim and instability
I have a MLE task that for a small number of parameters finishes in a
reasonable amount of time, but for my "real" case (with 17 parameters
to be estimated) either takes far too long (over a day), or fails with
"computationally singular" errors. So a) are there any parallel
implementations of optim() (in R or otherwise) and b) how can I make my
function more robust?
