[LLVMdev] llvm.org outage
Dear LLVMers,
There is some scheduled network outages detailed below that affect the llvm.org servers and LLVM Mailing lists. The LLVM server is housed on the fourth floor. I am not sure which rooms house the mailing list servers. All times are Central Standard Time.
If someone from Illinois can distill the relevant parts of this message for LLVM users, I would be most appreciative. I am out

[LLVMdev] Potential Downtime of LLVM Server on Jan. 6
Dear All,
Just a reminder that some work on our heating/cooling system will be
done tomorrow between 8 am - noon Central time. If server room
temperatures get too high, the IT staff will start shutting machines down.
Since the LLVM server may need to be shut down on short notice, I can't
guarantee that we can give you advance warning of it going offline. I
strongly urge everyone to

[LLVMdev] Cooling Outage Presumed Over
Dear All,
Since the cooling outage was scheduled to end at noon and it's now 4:00
pm Central, I'm going to step out on a limb and say that the cooling
outage is probably over.
:)
The temperature in the room where llvm.org is located did not rise
significantly, and so we were able to keep everything running as usual.
Regards,
John Criswell

[LLVMdev] llvm.org Down
Dear All,
It appears that llvm.org is down. Siebel Center (the building in which
llvm.org is housed) seems to have suffered a power outage yesterday.
I've gone into the machine room, and it looks like llvm.org is powered
on, so I am not sure what the problem is.
Unfortunately, I am not sure what is wrong and don't have the equipment
handy to investigate further. My best guess is

xen, iscsi and resilience to short network outages
Hi. Here is the short version:
If dom0 experiences a short (< 120 second) network outage the guests
whose disks are on iSCSI LUNs get (seemingly) unrecoverable IO errors.
Is it possible to make Xen more resiliant to such problems?
And now the full version:
We''re testing Xen on iSCSI LUNs. The hardware/software configuration is:
* Dom0 and guest OS: SLES10 x86_64
* iSCSI LUN on

Planned service outage for community services on August 2, 2012
On August 2, 2012 during a window from 10:00AM to 11:00AM (Central

actual service interruption may only last a few minutes, but could last
longer.
These services could be unavailable during most, if not all, of this
time window. Once the move is complete, the

A problem with power outages
I have a CentOS-6.2 server in Italy.
Every few months the server gets into a strange state
and stops working after a power outage.
I should say that this does not occur after every power outage;
I suspect, but have no real evidence for this,
that if the power comes back too quickly
then the machine gets confused because it is in the middle of closing down.
If I am in Italy the solution is simple;

Redmine and Forge outages
Hey folks,
Due to continuing problems with our datacenter, we''re moving some
infrastructure this evening.
During this period, both Redmine (https://projects.puppetlabs.com/) and the
Forge (http://forge.puppetlabs.com) will be unavailable.
Sorry about the short notice of this, and the outage earlier too [1].
If you have any issues in a couple of hours once it''s all back up,

The LLVM server is being moved to a different machine at Siebel Center
today. I believe email was sent to llvmdev about it a week ago.
The outage will hopefully not last too much longer.

[LLVMdev] Possible llvm.org Downtime
Dear All,
On Monday, March 17, the computer science building will have its cooling
system turned off for maintenance. During that time, the offices and
computer labs in the building may get warm, and as a consequence, we may
need to power off machines.
While I am hoping that down time will be unnecessary, we may need to
power down llvm.org during the cooling outage. It is also possible

maptools::sunriset() daylight savings to stardard time change
Hello all,
After beating my head against the wall for a few hours, I give up.
I have two problems.
1. If I use seq() to generate a POSIXct series that crosses a daylight savings to stardard time change I get two values for the first day of change. The time change is Nov 6,2011. The value for Nov 7 turns into 23:00 on Nov 6, thus two values for Nov 6. (see below)
So I put a time value (noon)

[LLVMdev] Potential LLVM Service Outages
Dear LLVMers,
The LLVM mailing lists, CVS server, and web server will be unavailable
on Thursday, December 28, from 7:30am to 8:15 am, Central Time. This is
because the CS department IT group (TSG) will be restarting two switches
during that time. Services should resume at 8:15.
I don't know if the mailing lists will be queuing mail, so if you can,
avoid sending mail to the lists during
