[LLVMdev] Use of blockadress() crashes llc in some cases
Hi!
In some cases the use of blockaddress() crashes llc.
I've attached two test-cases, one that crashes and for reference a slightly modified one (just 2 lines are commented) that works.
I compile the files with
# llvm-as test_crash.ll -o - | llc -f -o temp.s -
and get

[LLVMdev] 'opt' Aborted "While deleting: void %"
Hey everyone,
So I have an LLVM pass that appears to run completely and work fine, and
then it aborts at the very end. When exiting the final runOnFunction call,
I get the following error / stack dump. I cannot figure out why this is
happening for the life of me - does anyone have any ideas? I'm not trying
to do any crazy deallocation or anything, it just seems like a normal pass
to me.

Hi Griffin, did your pass create a data structure that holds values somehow,
and forgot to delete it? Also, try running under valgrind in case this is
due to a memory error of some kind.

Originally I ran into this on our out-of-tree target but I managed to
reproduce the crash on X86 as well now:
build-all/bin/opt -S -sroa -loop-rotate -loop-deletion -licm
-loop-idiom ../llvm/bugpoint-reduced-simplified.i8+.ll
gives:
While deleting: void %
An asserting value handle still pointed to this value!
UNREACHABLE executed at ../lib/IR/Value.cpp:696!

[LLVMdev] Problem with InsertPointGuard ABI?
Hi,
I have problem with IRBuilderBase::InsertPointGuard class that simply does
not work in the release build of my project. The class does not restore the
IRBuilder's insert point correctly when NDEBUG macro is set. It happens on
OSX system only, trunk version of the LLVM built with brew.
I suspect it is the ABI problem. InsertPointGuard uses AssertingVT for
debug builds.

Using Valgrind hasn't shown me anything terribly unusual. And I'm confused
because its not even trying to delete a real instruction; deleting a void
type with no name? That doesn't make any sense...
Any other hints? I've seen a few posts in the past about this relating to
some internal LLVM bugs...

Yes, it is a pass.
Here is a very general overview of the file structure as far as the AA is
concerned. LLVM is not my strong-suit, I do hardware simulators, not

I am working with someone else's LLVM code, which is about 8 months old.
Part of this pass involves AliasAnalysis, and I'm getting the above

Hello,
I've been stuck with a problem for about a month, and it has stumped
everyone in my lab. I have a function pass that runs, and when it finishes
and opt goes to return, I get:
While deleting: void %
An asserting value handle still pointed to this value!
UNREACHABLE executed at /x/grwright/llvm/llvm-2.9/lib/VMCore/Value.cpp:569!
On a simple test case, the error becomes 'i32 %'

[LLVMdev] JIT::freeMachineCodeForFunction(Function *F) on ARM
Hello Everyone,
Does void JIT::freeMachineCodeForFunction(Function *F) work on arm? I get a crash when I call it on arm.I don't have access to gdb on the simulator I am using , so can't say for sure if it works.

[LLVMdev] Building LLVM on Solaris/Sparc
Hi,
I'm trying to build llvm on a Solaris/Sparc machine. I get many undefined
symbols during the link phase of opt. The link command being run is below.
It is identical to the link command that gets run and works on an x86 host.

I was able to use your scripts to build� llvm and llvm-gcc successfully.
But when i try to link to llvm libraries i get the following :
