using lmer weights argument to represent heteroskedasticity
Hi- I want to fit a model with crossed random effects and heteroskedastic level-1 errors where inferences about fixed effects are of primary interest. The dimension of the random effects is making the model computationally prohibitive using lme() where I could model the heteroskedasticity with the "weights" argument. I am aware that the weights argument to lmer() cannot be used to

[LLVMdev] function inlining of llvm-gcc versus gcc, and llvm-g++ versus g++?
Does llvm-gcc do more, less, or the same amount of function inlining as gcc? What about llvm-g++ and g++? I am specifically interested in inlining that occurs when I run with the --emit-llvm command line flag like this: llvm-gcc -c --emit-llvm foo.c thus generating bitcode. That is, I am not interested at this moment in what happens when I run the opt or llc tools on the bit code after its

glm.fit: fitted probabilities numerically 0 or 1 occurred for a continuous variable?
I have gotten the this error before: "glm.fit: fitted probabilities numerically 0 or 1 occurred" and the problem was usually solved by combining one or more categories were there were no observations. I am now having this error show up for a variable that is continuous (not categorical). What could be the cause of this for a continuous variable?? Thanks, Nick -- View this message
