FxTopWindow problem
I have an fxRuby GUI app that I am having problems with. I want to bring up a help window from the main window when someone selects a help/help from the help menu. I have created a helpWindow that inherits from FXDialogBox. It has an FXMenuBar, FXStatusBar, and an FXtext which gets filled with help text from a file. When the help/help menu is selected from the main window, I make a new helpWindow,

Is there a way to handle window (FXDialogBox) "close event" (or any other event/message)?
I cannot figure out how to call a function (or have a block executed)
when a FXDialogBox closes (to have some program variables set from the
text-fields in the dialog).
Also, how do I close the dialog box when user presses Enter in some
text-field, I know how to handle Enter key-press but not how to send
message to the FXDialogBox window).

Can''t add text to FXCanvas
I have a ruby program that uses a FXCanvas, and I have attached a FXDCWindow
to control it. It lets me draw lines, rectangles and ellipses, but not text.
If I attempt to draw text, I get the following error
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an

Hey all,
I''m having trouble with FXProgressDialog-- I''m trying to use it to show the
progress of a file upload..
I am running the upload in a separate thread that calls the dialog''s destroy
method when its done.. the dialog closes, but the application remains
non-responsive (as if its still in the execute loop). I''ve tried sending

intercepting messages from FXScrollBar toFXScrollArea
Hello Lyle,
the Task, I want to accomplish:
I''ve created a little app that is used on a PC with a touch screen. To ease
hitting the keys, the keys and the scrollbars are really big (45 pixels). So
the ScrollCorner is also really big and I just wanted to use this space by
moving the ScrollDown Botton down to the position of the ScrollCorner (like
the attachment shows)
The code looks like

FXRuby 1.6.23 released
Hi fxruby hackers,
new version 1.6.23 is out with the following changes. Unfortunately
the fxruby.org homepage is down and I don''t have access to it.
Therefore I''ve moved the documentation to
http://rubydoc.info/github/larskanis/fxruby/1.6/frames and converted
to yard.
Have fun!

Fixed column widths in FXTable?
Is there a way to make an FXTable''s column widths (and row heights)
unchangeable by the user? By experimentation it looks to me like leaving
out TABLE_COL_SIZABLE and TABLE_ROW_SIZABLE from the options field in
FXTable.new() has no effect. I can still drag the intersection between
two column heading buttons to change the column width. The code I''m
using to test this is

FXListBox size behavior?
The default behavior of FXListBox seems to be to grow and shrink in
width depending on the length of the selected entry in the list. This is
a problem when the list contains items of varying width, because if a
short item is picked then the longer entries are obscured in the
drop-down list.
Is this deliberate, an oversight, or a bug? Its certainly not how I''d
choose it to act. Is

"invest" applet in centos 5.1 seems to be inoperative
Hello!
I figured it'd be interesting to see a miniature graph of the Dow Jones
on my panel bar. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to do anything, and
the preferences for it isn't helpful (it already has DJIA).
So, any suggestions on how to get it to work?

-x option inoperative with "bind" mounts
Hello,
I have this mount defined in /etc/fstab:
/backup/current/usr/local/share/premier /var/www/g5/trunk/Naxos none bind,ro
When I backup /var with rsync using (among other) the -x option (one
filesystem) then the whole contents of
/backup/current/usr/local/share/premier are also backed up as they are
mounted on /var/www/g5/trunk/Naxos.
Is this expected behavior? I thought -x would exclude

Learning FXRuby please help!
Hi all,
I''m trying to get text on to the screen in response to pressing a
button. This code doesn''t work, and I don''t know why. My puts command
says that the window is shown, but it''s not displayed.
Also, it seems to me that there should be an easier way to get text on a
screen in response to pressing a button. Any hints? Thanks!

Connecting messages to methods
Hi all.
I''m trying to write a subclass of FXMainWindow which has several methods to
dispatch events. The class looks like this:

class Window < FXMainWindow
include Responder
ID_SELF,
ID_BTN = enum(FXMainWindow::ID_LAST, 2)

Dynamic resize of drawing canvas and FXImage
How can I use the drawing canvas and its off-screen image buffer, say
FXImage, to dynamically resize or have its width and height attributes
changed in reply to user interaction with the main window (FXMainWindow)?
It seems that whem I put initial values to W and H of the canvas or FXImage,
they remain with its initial values no matter what I do whem resizing the
main window.

Using BUTTON_TOOLBAR
Hi, folks. I''m trying to make a toolbar with buttons that change appearance
when hovered over with the mouse. The docs on FXButton say that using
BUTTON_TOOLBAR "causes the edge of the button to be raised when the cursor
moves over it." What I''m getting is buttons without any frame, but they do
not change appearance when the cursor moves over them. I''m

ThinLTO and the C API
Our ThinLTO testing was inoperative for a while, and now that it's running
again, we're seeing the linker step reporting "Expected a single module."
Note that our linker is using the C API to read bitcode.
It looks like the ThinLTO writer now emits two modules, but AFAICT most of
the APIs in BitcodeReader.cpp expect to see only one. Is this just an
oversight in supporting

I have the same problem on the install disks and on the Live CD: The
computer locks as soon as the Xserver starts. I end up with a blank screen

on the screen. Keyboard and mouse are inoperative. Even Alt-SysRq-R
doesn't work. Only way out is the reset button (or maybe SSH, but I don't

FXTable segfaults after multiple setTableSize calls
When I empty and refill an FXTable multiple times with a large data set
(10,000 rows x 1 column in the example below, around 1000 rows x 6
columns in a more complicated app), the application eventually fails
with a segmentation fault. The number of repetitions required to produce
the segfault is rather random, ranging from just a couple reps to 15 or
20 in some trials. The program disappears
