[LLVMdev] Accessing an empty machine function before instruction selection?
I'm trying to access the MachineFunctionInfo structure from a pre-ISel pass. In order to do this I have to get access to the MachineFunction and then call getInfo(). Currently in my pass I request it via: void AMDILBarrierDetect::getAnalysisUsage(AnalysisUsage &AU) const { AU.addRequired<MachineFunctionAnalysis>(); FunctionPass::getAnalysisUsage(AU); } However, I am getting an

[LLVMdev] Problem with generating Machine function analysis pass
Hi, I've been encountering a problem with function pass manager with llvm-2.6. Somehow system does not know how to create analysis pass if it's required by some other pass. I got following after adding various debug prints to PassManager.cpp I got following results for my reduced test program which just loads module and then tries to make a function pass manager. elhigu at

[LLVMdev] Crash in opt.cpp:739 when loading custom pass (only on system-wide debug install of llvm)
Hi, I'm trying to write custom pass. However opt started crashed in opt.cpp. After debugging it looks like PassInf->NormalCtor points to unmapped memory (rest of struct contains correct data about my pass) - it pointed high in user memory (0x756e672e006e6f69). It happens only when I tried to install debug version of llvm system-wide (I've check that it wasn't caused by stale .a

[LLVMdev] "Cannot call createPass on PassInfo without default ctor!"
While trying to add a pass to the ARM back end I'm getting quite a lot of this assertion failure: Pass.cpp:255: llvm::Pass* llvm::PassInfo::createPass() const: Assertion `NormalCtor && "Cannot call createPass on PassInfo without default ctor!"' failed. A simple way to get it is to add two lines to ARMTargetMachine.cpp: #include "llvm/Transforms/Scalar.h" and

uninitialized values in Attributes.cpp
> If 3.9 shipped with these issues (assuming these are not false positive), it would be interesting to 1) know why the sanitizers didn’t catch it, and 2) add valgrind to the release qualification process (CC Hans). Yes, I'd be interested to see some corroboration. Note that the issue here is pretty specific: it only happens during optimized compile using Clang-3.9. This is all I did:

[LLVMdev] PassManager again...
Hi, I have trouble making my ProfileInfo-Analysis available in the backend, I have changed llc so it loads the ProfileInfo if requested, the PassManger gives this output: > Target Data Layout > Create Garbage Collector Module Metadata > Basic Alias Analysis (default AA impl) > DWARF Information Writer > No Profile Information > Module Information > ModulePass

simple loop problemo (Geo brownian motion)
I would like to plot multiple random walks onto the same graph. My p variable dictates how may random walks there will be. par(mfrow=c(1,1)) p <- 100 N <- 1000 S0 <- 10 mu <- 0.03 sigma <- 0.2 nu <- mu-sigma^2/2 x <- matrix(rep(0,(N+1)*p),nrow=(N+1)) y <- matrix(rep(0,(N+1)*p),nrow=(N+1)) t<- (c(0:N))/N for (j in 1:p) { z <- rnorm(N,0,1) x[1,j] <- 0 y[1,j]

Email2fax big problemo
Hi, Few days ago I installed Email2fax application on my Asterisk box. I works but not in 100 %. Sometimes (to be certain quite often) I don't receive the whole fax. My fax machine cuts off transmission in 1/2 or 1/3 of the page. I read about it on a wiki and some user lists and people say that this behaviour could be cause be the Ghostscript and the conversion to the tiff format, but when I

[LLVMdev] Useless check in TailDuplication
Hi, while reading the TailDuplication pass, I found a check that looks rather pointless. TailDuplication looks at an unconditional branch instruction, BI. It performs a number of checks on the successor of this branch instruction, Dest. One of this checks is counting the number of predecessor. If this count is zero, Dest is regarded as dead and no tail duplication happens. However, as far as I

[LLVMdev] Tail Duplication Questions
I'm reading up on LLVM's implementation of tail duplication and the description is confusing: http://llvm.org/docs/Passes.html -tailduplicate: Tail Duplication This pass performs a limited form of tail duplication, intended to simplify CFGs by removing some unconditional branches. This pass is necessary to straighten out loops created by the C front-end, but also is capable of

[LLVMdev] Tail Duplication Questions
We used to have an LLVM-IR pass did tail duplication (http://llvm.org/viewvc/llvm-project/llvm/tags/RELEASE_29/final/lib/Transforms/Scalar/TailDuplication.cpp) It was not used and went away with 3.0. The documentation is out of date. commit f940a1a869b4fe6f857e7fd8aeb97e7b7e9b390e Author: Rafael Espindola <rafael.espindola at gmail.com> Date: Tue Aug 30 23:03:45 2011 +0000 Remove the

[LLVMdev] addPassesToEmitFile
Hi, Long time ago (llvm-svn june 2008) I asked here about a way to output the assembly code of my JIT generated code to a string, so I could use it to read it on the screen. I came up with this solution: std::string Err; const llvm::TargetMachineRegistry::entry* _arch = llvm::TargetMachineRegistry::getClosestTargetForJIT(Err); std::string FeaturesStr; llvm::TargetMachine*

[LLVMdev] How to use LLVM optimizations with clang
Thanks again. I executed the following command line llc -O3 comb.ll.bc -debug-pass=Arguments and got Pass Arguments: -targetdata -targetpassconfig -no-aa -tbaa -targetlibinfo -basicaa -collector-metadata -machinemoduleinfo -machine-branch-prob -preverify -domtree -verify -loops -loop-simplify -scalar-evolution -loop-simplify -iv-users -loop-reduce -gc-lowering -unreachableblockelim

[LLVMdev] addPassesToEmitFile
Well, I've been before hours trying this, but soon after I sent the email I found something. However is quite intriguing. I just changed the order of and the static libraries that I was linking. How can this be possible?? I'm using Cmake for building my llvm projects, so I choose the order and I pick the .a libraries I want to link by hand... Thank you, alvaro 2009/3/8 Álvaro

[LLVMdev] addPassesToEmitFile
When you say 'static libraries' do you mean static libraries or shared objects (.so)... Because if you mean shared objects, then it could very well explain you crash. flags to reproduce clang -O3 with opt -O3
Hello, I've been trying to figure out how to reproduce the results of a single clang -O3 compilation to a binary with a multi-step process using opt. Specifically I have: clang -O3 foo.c -o foo.exe which I want to replicate with: clang -O0 -c -emit-llvm foo.c opt -O3 foo.bc -o foo_o.bc clang foo_o.bc -o foo.exe Any hints / suggestions on what additional flags I need to produce the same
