Thank you for the reply, but I meant that when we building,we can not use the native tools such ar and as to process the llvm files,we must have the ability to call llvm-ar and llvm-as instead of the native ones. 在 2009-10-17六的 19:35 -0700,Nick Lewycky写道: > zhunan wrote: > > Hi, > > > > I don't think just use gold-plugin even modified is enough for the task > > of

Yes,but when I just simply replace lto_codegen_compile(cg, ...) with lto_codegen_write_merged_modules(cg, "/path/to/output.bc") in the gold-plugin.cpp to see if it will generate a correct bc file, the llvm-gcc/llvm-g++ will call the native ld in the linking step, which causes the failture because of that ld can not recognize an object file which contains LLVM's IL. I understand the

We can use the native tools if they understand llvm IL :-) That is what the plugin does. With it installed you can run

[LLVMdev] strace for whole-program bitcodes (was: RE: building whole-program bitcode with LLVM)
Hi Terence, I believe that this is in fact similar to an approach Coverity uses (or used at one time) as a robust solution to determine what was done during a build. I can imagine that one can build a robust system following this technique, but it also seems like it might be quite a bit of work. Another possible alternative not mentioned is to teach the compiler driver (clang, most likely) to

[LLVMdev] strace for whole-program bitcodes (was: RE: building whole-program bitcode with LLVM)
Hi, Kelly, Have you found the solution for this problem? I met a similar problem when I were trying to test MySQL 5.0 with LLVM. The following is my step, but still failed since llvm-ld can not recognize some gcc link flags. 1. during the configuration, use a script such as llvm-gcc.sh, at this time the script only invoke the gcc. This is necessary because the gnu configure will test the

[LLVMdev] strace for whole-program bitcodes (was: RE: building whole-program bitcode with LLVM)
Hi, It would be nice if it were easier for relative novices to build whole-program bitcodes for large, complex applications with hairy build systems. Several readers of this list have been trying various approaches for a few months but as far as I know we haven't yet found a good general solution. Approaches that have been tried include 1) placing wrappers for the usual tools (gcc, ar, as,

Afaik gold does not help here. I tried it and managed to only generate native code. I'm currently investigating an alternative approach to produce whole-program bitcodes: 1) add

Hello everyone, I'm working on passing parameters for gold/LTO plug-in and could add this one as well. Just need an option name. Could anybody suggest one? I truly get the bytecode file for each souce file, but can I use llvm-link to link them into a whole-program one automatically through some scripts? > > Message: 27 > Date: Tue, 15 Sep 2009 03:16:10 +0200 > From: ?scar Fuentes <ofv at wanadoo.es> > Subject: Re: [LLVMdev] Replace gcc with llvm-gcc??? > To: llvmdev at cs.uiuc.edu > Message-ID: <87vdjlnh2d.fsf at

[LLVMdev] Replace gcc with llvm-gcc
Just set llvm-ld as the default ld . Such as LD = llvm-ld in makefile, if it's not working, then there is no solution 2009/9/15, zhunan <zhunansjtu at gmail.com>: > I truly get the bytecode file for each souce file, but can I use > llvm-link to link them into a whole-program one automatically through > some scripts? > > >> >> Message: 27 >> Date: Tue, 15

[LLVMdev] I have built a whole-program bitcode file for openldap-2.19
Hi,all I have written a wrapper which includes gcc/g++,ld and llvm counterparts, it invokes native or llvm compiler and linker according to the options it receives, after I replace the native tools with my wrapper in libtool script, I just typed like this make CC=wrapper AC_CFLAGS=-emit-llvm then I got a bc file of slapd and other tools in clients directory The accessory is the whole-program

[LLVMdev] Where should I put libLLVMgold.so??
Yes,but ubuntu's directory structure is not exactly the same as the classic linux distribute, I put libLLVMgold.so in /usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.2.4 where cc1 is also in. Strange situation,is it a bug for llvm-gcc???? 在 2009-09-18五的 12:58 +0300,Török Edwin写道: > On 2009-09-18 03:06, Nan Zhu wrote: > > OMG,that's just my situation... > > > > I can link with

[LLVMdev] Replace gcc with llvm-gcc???
Hi,all Recently I met a question when I want to replace gcc with llvm-gcc through configure script(command). For simply,described like that I typed as following 1.zhunan at sjtu:~/workplace/$ ./configure CC=llvm-gcc CFLAGS="-S -emit-llvm" configure will failed when it checks whether C compiler is working 2.zhunan at sjtu:~/workplace/$ ./configure CC=llvm-gcc CFLAGS="-c
