facter fails to detect network interfaces with long names
I have Gentoo host where `ifconfig -a` prints long interface names
truncated to 9 chars (there is closed bug report [1]).
Unfortunately, `facter` uses `ifconfig -a` output to get list of
interface names and because of truncation it generates `interfaces`
fact with incorrect interface names. Also it fails to retrieve
individual interface information with following message for
each interface with

FLAC port to Symbian OS
That may be double post.
Hi.
I'm not sure if this is the right address to mail.
I'm developing an application for Symbian OS 3-rd ed. FP1 (nokia cell phones),
that plays music gaplessly following the natural folder structure. My app focuses
on lossless audio formats, such as WAV, AOB, FLAC, APE and so on.
So recently I've finished porting the free source v1.2.1 to that platform and

Hello !!
While reading I am facing lot of problems . Doing reserve enginnering
without any document is
really putting in trouble . ( that is not the case in ac3 , mp3 ) .
The problems are ---->
1. How physcoacoustic model is generated . I was reading noise masking .
I have understood that FFT of 2048 samples is used for finding tone
masking .
And MDCT of same samples is used for

gee and geepack: different results?
Hi, I downloaded both gee and geepack, and I am trying to understand the
differences between the two libraries.
I used the same data and estimated the same model, with a correlation
structure autoregressive of order 1. Surprisingly for me, I found very
different results. Coefficients are slightly different in value but
sometimes opposite in sign.
Moreover, the estimate of rho (correlation

Basic matematical functions with NAs
Dear All,
I've tried to sum columns -- different species of flowers, fruits plus twigs -- with NAs to get litterfall/trap, and then after use litterfall to calculate production (litterfall (grams)/ hectare/ day. But R 'sees' litterfall/trap as a string.
My question: How to use basic mathematical functions to deal with NAs in data management.
Example (as you can note I have many

GEE with R: "double" overdispersion?
Dear R users,
I work with a descrete variable (sclae 0 - 27) which is highly skwed to the right (many zeros and small numbers). I measure this variable on a control and intervention cohort 5 times a year. When I analyze analyze this varoable at each time point separately and use GLM with family quasi-Poisson (descrete outcome and two binary variables, gender and cohort, are predictors), I observe

What is the difference between %S, %u and %U variables in sbm.comf
Hi list,
Can someone please clarify the difference between variables %S %U %u in smb.conf?
It is not clearly defined in man smb.conf page (at least for me)
%U - session username (the username that the client wanted, not necessarily the same as the one they got).
%S - the name of the current service, if any.
%u - username of the current service, if any.
That is "session username",
