[LLVMdev] Google Summer of Code Project Idea
Dear LLVM-Dev,
Your ideas page said that you'd take applications to write new
language frontends for LLVM. I've been in-progress for most of a year
now writing a compiler for my language Deca as a side-project, and I'd
like to make it GSOC project by targeting it at LLVM.
My other commitments are that I've applied to several different REU
programs. If one of them

Unexpected result with lag() et diff() in plm package.
I have an unexpected result with the functions lag() and diff() in the plm
(panel data) package when used with transform(). These plm-specific
functions are supposed to generate lags and first differences within each
panel.
lag() does not work properly the first time (it reproduces the same
series--this is a common time series pitfall), BUT then it does work
properly when it is run a second

Regarding GSoC 2016 project idea
Hi,
If I take up the task of 'clustering the search results' and I am opting
for the new method to cluster the results, then what will be the
approximate amount of data that will be clustered? So appropriate
clustering mechanism can be thought of according to that.
Thanks & regards,
Ainish

GSoc Project Idea Weighting Schemes (Ranking)
Hi,
I am Abhishek
Currently Xapian::Weight follows BM25 scheme, many models such as the
Divergence from Randomness (DfR) family of models, Unigram Language Model
and the Bi-gram Language Model implemented two years ago in GSoc 2012 yet
not merged to the master.
The new weighing schemes or improvement in implementing the previous models

Regarding GSoC 2016 project idea
Hello,
I am Ainish Dave from Ahmedabad, India. I am currently pursuing my masters
level degree with background in computer science. I browsed through the
list of organizations on the GSoC program page and Xapian was the one which
closely matched with my interest and background. I had some queries:
1) I am interested in the project 'Clustering of Search Results'. I have

dup error of rsync 3.0.6-1 under cygwin 1.7.0-62 and 63
I have used earlier rsync on cygwin successfully for a
long. I have now moved to cygwin 1.7.0, which required
moving to rsync 3.0.6-1 at the same time. (The -1 is
for minor cygwin-specific patches.)
When I do almost any command with rsync, such as the one
below, it breaks at a dup2 after a fork in pipe.c (routine
piped_child). Windows gives error code 6, which is translated
by cygwin to errno 9 =

Analysis of Dispersion
Does anyone know of an R implementation of Rao's (1965) described 'Analysis of Dispersion' which is the generalization of the General Linear Model, Y = XB, to multiple Y variables and the further use of the method to 'Test of Additional Information' in one set of Y variables corrected for a second set of Y variables, i.e. the generalization of covariance analysis.

rsync hang on large file in a set
This is to both the rsync and cygwin lists, and I
regret that it is vaguer than I would like, but ...
With cygwin 1.7 (latest beta) and the rsync released
with it (3.0.6-1) I try to sync a couple of Gb of
Thunderbird mail files. The flag settings were
-avzuP plus a --chmod and some includes/excludes
to control which files to move.
I would repeatably get "hangs" on particular files,

1.8.1 Make problem on SunOS
I am trying to make R-1.8.1 on (SunOS shell1 5.8 Generic_108528-15 sun4u sparc SUNW,UltraAX-i2). I did
./configure
make
Configure output seems ok. The make proceeds until the following line appears, repeated indefinitely (until I break):
./config.status: ./confstat28489-19881/subs.frag: cannot overwrite existing file
I suspect that this may involve write permissions (and maybe

Some matrix and sandwich questions
Dear R-help,
I have a four-part question about regression, matrices, and sandwich package.
1) In the sandwich package, I would like to better understand the
meat() function.
>From the bread() documentation, for a simple OLS regression, bread() returns
(1/n * X'X)^(-1)
That is, for a simple regression (per the documentation on bread()):
MyLM <- lm(y ~ x)

I'd be grateful if a good Samaritan helps me to approach this problem....

[GSOC 2019] project ideas from 2018
Hi everyone,
Last year I found about GSoC and llvm bit to late to apply. I noticed that
"Improve function attribute inference" project idea was not taken. Does
anyone know if someone has worked on it in the meantime? If not, is someone
interested in mentoring? Nuno Lopes or someone else?
Thanks and regards,
Stefan.

[GSOC] Potential Project Ideas
Hello,
My name is Siddharth. I’m a student studying math and computer science at the University of Toronto.
I’m interested in learning more about the LLVM compiler through GSoC. I have no prior experience with LLVM, but I have a strong interest in compilers, and I look forward to learning more.
I would like to pursue one of two potential projects: rewriting bugpoint, and moving optimizations
