newbie question on dist
hi, i have just begun using R, so please bear with me. i am trying to use cmdscale and display the result. i read the data using read.table(), calculate the proximity matrix using dist() and the display the result using the cmdscale(). this is very fine. in addition, i want the display to distinguish between two classes of records in my data. i have my data records marked as "1" or

Simple list manipulation question
I have a list of vectors $A "AB" "BC" "CD" $B "GF" "HG" "FH" "FJ" and I want to convert it into a dataframe of form A AB A BC A CD B GF B HG B FH B FJ Just can't quite come up with a nice "R" solution for it. Thanks, Sean

Minimizing two non-linear functions with genoud - Trying to minimize or converge near zero
Hello R users, I am trying to minimize two functions with genoud. It is actually one function with two sets of data, each of them having two unknown variables (called Vcmax and gi) which have the same value in each of the function. They are called f.1 and f.2 in the code below. My objective to minimize the functions in order to get the two variables equal in each of the functions. Furthermore, I

using facet_grid() from ggplot2 with additional text in labels
Hi I am using ggplot2 at the moment and I must say it is definitely better then ggplot - good work. My problem is that I am using facet_grid() in the following way: > p <- ggplot(ssq, aes(x=year, y=-log(ssq))) > p + geom_point() + facet_grid(me*gi~cs*rz) and it works nicely, except that I would like to have, in naddition to the values of me, gi, cs and rz the name of the variable.

Implement VLIW Backend on LLVM (Assembler Related Questions)
Hello, I want to implement LLVM backend for a specific VLIW hardware. I am working on defining its instruction set, and assembly language. The hardware has two pipelines, int and float. Each pipeline can do 3 operations/cycle, 3 operations forms an instruction. One of the Integer Instruction looks like this: add Ri, Rj, Rk; add Rl, Rm, Rn; add Ro, Rp, Rq An int instruction and a float

Fitting GLMM models with glmer
Hi everybody: I?m trying to rewrite some routines originally written for SAS?s PROC NLMIXED into LME4's glmer. These examples came from a paper by Nelson et al. (Use of the Probability Integral Transformation to Fit Nonlinear Mixed-Models with Nonnormal Random Effects - 2006). Firstly the authors fit a Poisson model with canonical link and a single normal random effect bi ~ N(0;Sigma^2).The

[LLVMdev] Re:question about Insert callInst to call a function in library
Thanks Chris, but the method you mentioned is not what I want. Maybe I didn't make it clear. As you said, /runtime/libprofile is runtime library for the following function. llvm_start_func_profiling llvm_start_block_profiling llvm_start_basic_block_tracing llvm_trace_basic_block And those above functions can be inserted into basic block etc for getting profile. However, those

[LLVMdev] Finding the uses of a global variable
Hi everyone, I am writing a pass that finds all uses of global variables (my goal is to find the uses of strings, and strings are defined as global variables). So, I can iterate over global vars by for(Module::global_iterator gi = M.global_begin(), gend = M.global_end(); gi != gend; ++gi) ...... But if I use its def-use chain for(Value::use_iterator i = gi->use_begin(), e = F->use_end; i!=e;

[LLVMdev] GlobalVariable initializer using from beyond the grave
For LLDB I'm writing a dumb module pass that removes all global variables, by running the following code: bool erased = true; while (erased) { erased = false; for (Module::global_iterator gi = llvm_module.global_begin(), ge = llvm_module.global_end(); gi != ge; ++gi) { GlobalVariable *global_var =

Fujitsu RX200 S3
Alle, I am trying to install CentOS 5 on a Dual Xeon 5160 FJ RX200 S3. The RAID hardware is an internal LSI MPT 1068 SAS/RAID controller (LSI 1068SASIME-2300). I have downloaded the drivers (mptsas, mptscsih and mptbase) and created the required floppy. When I run linux dd after booting from either the DVD or Disk 1 of the CentOS distro, it says it loads mptsas, mptbase and mptscsih and

Computing inverse cdf (quantile function) from a KDE
Hello, I wanted to know if there is a simple way of getting the inverse cdf for a KDE estimate of a density (using the ks or KernSmooth packages) in R ? The method I'm using now is to perform a numerical integration of the pdf to get the cdf and then doing a search for the desired probablity value, which is highly inefficient and very slow. Thanks, -fj [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

[LLVMdev] question about GetElementPtr Instruction
I have a question about GetElementPtr. Suppose I have an GetElementPtr Instruction GI: %reg = getelementptr %ST* %s, uint 1, ubyte 2, ubyte 1, uint 5, uint 13 I want to check if this is the reference of a component of a structure, how can I do that? Should I check which operand of this instruction is 'ubyte' type? How can I do that in code? should I use ubyte *a =

constrOptim( ): conflict between help page and code
There is a contradiction between what the help page says and what constrOptim actually does with the constraints. The issue is what happens on the boundary. The help page says The feasible region is defined by ?ui %*% theta - ci >= 0?, but the R code for constrOptim reads if (any(ui %*% theta - ci <= 0)) stop("initial value not feasible") The following example
