Hi, I tried out the new soft-float support from the mainline. Overall, it looks very nice and pretty clean. It is now extremely easy to add the soft-float support for your target. Just do not call addRegisterClass() for your FP types and they will be expanded into libcalls. But there are several minor things that would be still nice to have: a) It is not possible to express that: - f32 and

[LLVMdev] Shouldn't DAGCombine insert legal nodes?
I just ran across something interesting: DAGCombine inserts a 64-bit constant as the result of converting a (bitconvert (fabs val)) to a (and (bitconvert val), i64const). The problem: i64 constants have to be legalized for the CellSPU platform. DAGCombine is doing the right thing but it's not doing the right thing for CellSPU and it's damed difficult to work around this

Ensuring chain dependencies with expansion to libcalls
Hi all, Our target does not have native support for 64-bit integers, so we rely on library calls for certain operations (like sdiv). We recently ran into a problem where these operations that are expanded to library calls aren't maintaining the proper ordering in relation to other chains in the DAG. Hi Eli, Thanks for pointing to the CTLZ_ZERO_UNDEF “LibCall” implementation. I have not it in the version that I am currently using, so it’s nice to know that it’s implemented now. Incidentally, the CTLZ… implementation is IDENTICAL to what I am proposing for the Shifts. This is not just adding support for “out-of-tree-targets”, but giving consistency to the fact that we have perfectly defined

RTLIB and Custom Library calls
Hello LLVM-Dev, Most of the processing for i64 and f64 types for our backend are emulation library calls. Some of the library calls are not defined in the RuntimeLibcalls.def Libcall enum so we have to define custom library calls. How is the ideal way of implementing the custom library calls? Providing us with a target backend having a similar functionality would also help us significantly. Say

LLVM appears to support Library functions for ISD::SRA ,ISD::SHL, and ISD::SRL, as they are properly defined in RuntimeLibCalls.def. Our assembler requires that the external functions used in a module should explicitly be declared using "extern" directive. The llvm libcall infrastructure doesn't keep a list of libcalls made for the module, though they are available as part of the list of all external symbols used by the module. Is it a good idea to keep the list of libcalls separate? - Sanjiv
