Can't get XFS enabled on Centos 5.0
I anm trying to enable XFS with no success. I followed the instructions provided in http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories/CentOSPlus I installed the new kernel. Example: 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus I also installed these packages as described in a post I found yum install --enablerepo=centosplus xfsprogs xfsprogs-devel lsmod shows nothing about XFS I would image there are others out there

[CSL #301925] centosplus kernel xfs patches and CVE-2006-1855
Hi All, we've run into a problem with the xfs component in the centosplus kernel (2.6.9-34.106.unsupportedsmp) where synchronous writes sometimes fail with EAGAIN. It's causing headaches for DB2 installs and for our database research group. There is a fix reported at: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-xfs&m=110808122904352&w=2 ...that's supposed to take care of

Unsupported Kernel for X86_64 and i386
All, There have been many requests for added kernel features that the upstream provider left out of the standard kernel. (ReiserFS, Video4Linux, Firewire support, XFS, NTFS, JFS, etc.). We want the main release CDs to contain a standard kernel for compatibility and stability reasons. CentOS is created as a clone, and it needs to be as close as possible to the upstream distro. That being said,

CentOS 5 - base kernel vs. centosplus for XFS
I notice that the same versions of kmod-xfs and xfsprogs etc. are in both the extras and centosplus repositories for centos5. Is there any particular reason to use the centosplus kernel if what I'm primarily interested in is XFS filesystem support? I presume that if I am using the plus kernel, then I must use the plus versions of kmod-xfs etc., but I'm wondering whether I need the plus

XFS and CentOS 4.3
Hi All, after looking around for info on XFS(the filesystem) and its use on CentOS and/or RHEL 4. There seems to be a lot of noise about 4K Stacks (especially on linux-xfs at oss.sgi.com). So what is the best way to get XFS working with CentOS 4.3 ? And not have something like this happening. A quote from the xfs list at sgi >On Tue, 18 Jul 2006 at 10:29am, Andrew Elwell wrote >

xfs and centosplus kernel
I read that XFS has problems with 4K Stack size for Linux on 32-bit systems. How did we address this in the centosplus kernel? Since what release of CentOS was this problem resolved? Is there a quick way to know what size the Linux stack is configured to be in a system's that's running? Thanks for your help. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

Re: [CSL #329283] centosplus XFS bug?
We're running a mix of ext3 and xfs file systems on CentOS 4 workstations at our site. We have benefitted greatly from the increased performance and fast (crash recovery) reboot times that we get from xfs. We're currently running CentOS kernel 2.6.9-42.0.8.EL and xfs version 0.2-1. We have one host where we've got issues. It's a (very) busy imap server with external scsi hardware

Missing latest kmod-xfs and kmod-drbd82?
Since December there have been several kernel updates to the centosplus repository for centos4... but no updates to kmod-xfs or kmod-drbd82. Latest kernel is 2.6.9-78.0.13.plus.c4, but latest kmod-xfs is 2.6.9_78.0.5.plus.c4. Latest drbd82 kmod is also for 78.0.5. I know there was a mention on the list that these modules are not kernel dependent anymore... but yum and rpm seem to indicate

xfs on 5.2 (live cd + dvd)
Hello, I'm planning a server migration and being able to mount xfs file systems with the live cd would be a cruical feature. So before I download and try ... can anyone tell me whether the xfs is included in the 5.2 live cd? Later on I'm planning to install a new system with xen, 3ware 9550SX-4LP and xfs. The xen domains are of course located on xfs partitions. Do these features come

XFS for CentOS 2.6.9-42.0.8 [ was: issue - no keyboard after reboot]
Okay, so far so good - and many thanks to all who jumped in on this one. Now, we would like to look into making some changes in XFS, but I didn't see a SRPM for the kernel-module-xfs for 42.0.8 - the most recent one is for 42.0.3. Is this usable, or is there somewhere (else?) I can get the SRPM for the 42.0.8 XFS? Thanks. > -----Original Message----- > From: centos-bounces at

XFS on CentOS
Hi all, Does anybody know why unlike so many Linux distros (Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE) CentOS does not come with XFS support by default but rather requires custom modifications after the install in order for you to be able to support XFS on your CentOS machine? Just seems a little odd given how much CentOS is oriented to be used as a server OS. Thanks. Boris.

how asterisk detects silence?
Hello! As I see there is dsp_drop_silence switch in confbridge. Could you tell me how asterisk detects silence? Is it possible to change silence level, so, let's say some not loud enough background noises will be recognized as silence and only loud enough human voice will be recognized as sound? Thank you!

XFS or JFS on CentOS 5?
Hi folks... trying to pick between jfs and xfs for a filesystem. In the past we've used jfs with CentOS + centosplus, however, an older post indicated that this may not be the best choice as the version of jfs included with the centosplus kernel would only be as new as the version that was included in the 2.6.18 kernel as RH doesn't backport fixes... It looks like xfs isn't part of
