ComputeNumSignBits() is never called. Moreover, Cell SPU has to custom lower truncates in a specific way to preserve register uniformity (scalar and vector representation is one and the same, or, put another way, the scalar and vector registers are the same register.) Consequently, I can't trap (truncate (setcc ...)) patterns easily because the truncate is being custom lowered.

Issue with DAG legalization of brcond, setcc, xor
Hi, I am having some issues with how some of the instructions are being legalized. So this is my intial basic block. The area of concern is the last three instructions. I will pick and choose debug output to keep this small. We no longer have vsetcc, so the comment is wrong. The code looks incorrect. The fact that a vector is power-of-two does not guarantee anything about its legality. For example <128 x i64> would pass the condition in the code below, and die on most targets. Issue with DAG legalization of brcond, setcc, xor
But isn't kinda silly that we transform to xor and then we transform it back. What is the advantage in doing so? Hi Micah, I think that getSetCCResultType should only be called for legal types. Disabling it on isPow2VectorType is not the way to go because there are other illegal vector types which are pow-of-two. I suggest that you call it only after type-legalization. BTW, you can't set the LLVMTy yourself because you don't have access to the LLVMContext at that point. Nadav From:

OK, so in you case, you want DAG.getSExtOrTrunc(SetCC, DL, SelectVT) to tunc the result from i64 to i32 on 64 bits targets, if I understand correctly. 2 questions: - Why not generating a selectcc node directly ? I'm running into lots of problems with this call back. Mostly the problem occurs because this callback is used before types are legalized. However, the code generator does not have a 1-1 correspondence between all LLVM types and the codegen types. This leads to problems when getSetCCResultType is passed in an invalid type, but has a valid LLVM type attached to it. An example is <3 x

In this commit, at the line DAG.getSExtOrTrunc(SetCC, DL, SelectVT), on my target, you end up generating the Node you are replacing, and so creating a loop in the DAG, which give a whole new meaning to the A in the acronym. [LLVMdev] Promoting i1 to i32 does not work...
Hi there, I'm having a hard time with promoting operands from i1 to i32 in my backend... I have to register classes, VTs are i1 and i32. The i1 registers are only for predication and conditional jumps, so I want to use them with brcond, setcc. There are no instructions to directly load a value in an i1 register or to copy between i1 and i32, so I need the DAG Legalizing Pass to not generate

OK from what I understand, the DAG.getSExtOrTrunc(SetCC, DL, SelectVT) is unecessary and the SelectVT is nto the right type (as it is called with incorrect parameter). Here is a patch so it won't generate a loop.
