Help to understand LoadValueFromMemory
Hi all, I'm trying to print to screen the value read by the fread function. I'm at the point where source refers to the GetElementPtrInst ( pointer to the buffer where fread stored the data - %5 in my case ) and the fread() has been already called. I thought the correct approach to achieve what I need was: ExecutionContext& SF = ECStack.back(); GenericValue SRC =

[LLVMdev] Move instruction
Hi owen, Can you please elaborate as to what should I do? Find all the instruction which have r2 in it and replace all of them with r1 and then remove the load instruction? [LLVMdev] Move instruction
r2->replaceAllUsesWith(r1); r2->eraseFromParent(); LLVM makes it easy! ;-) --Owen On Nov 15, 2008, at 11:02 PM, Karhu, Abhinav R wrote: > Hi owen, > Can you please elaborate as to what should I do? [LLVMdev] Move instruction
Hi all, Can anybody tell me how to generate a mov instruction in llvm. I found out there is a MemMove Inst but I dont think that is what I want. I want to bypass a load instruction. So i need to generate a mov instruction which will help me remove the redundant load. Thanks -- Abhinav Karhu MS Computer Science Georgia Institute of Technology

[LLVMdev] Problem running program with LLVM JIT
Hey all, I compiled the code using both the -c and -S options. I can get the human readable IR but I still cannot run it using lli. The output of the IR looks like this. Can some of the information tell me about why the program is not running. ; ModuleID = 'Hel.c' target datalayout = "e-p:32:32" target endian = little target pointersize = 32 target triple =

[LLVMdev] Move instruction
Hi Eli, I want to do redundant load elimination. A simple example for that would be load (a1) , r1; --- --- --- load (a2) , r2; Now if a1 and a2 are alias of each other and the value stored in a1 and a2 remains the same then I can say that the second load is redundant. I can replace the second load with these instructions mov r0 r1; mov r0 r2; and remove the load instruction. This is the thing

[LLVMdev] Fw: Forcing the Interpreter segfaults
Hi Salomon, please don't forget to reply to the list too (I've CC'd the list). > I don't think my code is doing anything worng... No, it looks fine to me, and the interpreter certainly supports this. That suggests that the value of %str is not being transmitted to the function right. If it is getting the wrong pointer value, that would explain why it barfs. Ciao, Duncan.

[LLVMdev] GenericValue changes from 1.8 to 2.0
Hi all, I've been quiet for a while, but I'm liable to be less so now that I'm starting on porting our model checker from LLVM 1.8 to 2.0. One thing that is puzzling me somewhat are the changes made to the GenericValue union, which is now a struct. I haven't found any mention of this on the llvm site or in the archives, so it may be that I am the only one who cares about it

[LLVMdev] using external functions from llvm
The blog post I linked to implied that adding a symbol in the form lle_X_FUNCTIONNAME would allow you to call a function called FUNCTIONNAME. Is this not the case? [LLVMdev] API on JIT, code snippets
Valery, Attached are three files: "valery.cpp" which contains your original, "reid.cpp" which contains corrections to most of the FIXME items and "diffs" which shows the differences between them. The differences should be instructive on what to do. You were really, really close .. just a few details changing. The code in "reid.cpp" compiles but I

[LLVMdev] ExecutionEngine always comes back NULL
Sorry I forgot to add code that I use to run code: /* Executes the AST by running the main function */ GenericValue CodeGenContext::runCode() { std::cout << "Running code...\n"; ExecutionEngine *ee = EngineBuilder(module).create(); vector<GenericValue> noargs; GenericValue v = ee->runFunction(mainFunction, noargs); std::cout << "Code was run.\n"; return v;

[LLVMdev] using external functions from llvm
Is there documentation somewhere on how to call external functions from llvm? The only guide I found was this: http://www.gearleaf.com/blog/post/44, and it doesn't seem to be working for me. I have a function: llvm::GenericValue lle_X_create_number_object(llvm::FunctionType* ft, const std::vector<llvm::GenericValue>& args) { llvm_object_structure* result = new

[LLVMdev] OCaml bindings to LLVM
I'm having another play with LLVM using the OCaml bindings for a forthcoming OCaml Journal article and I have a couple of remarks: Firstly, I noticed that the execute engine is very slow, taking milliseconds to call a JIT compiled function. Is this an inherent overhead or am I calling it incorrectly or is this something that can be optimized in the OCaml bindings? Secondly, I happened to

Sorry I forgot to mention I didn't make any changes to the configure script. The problem is that I can't test these things since I'm not on a Unix platform, and I'm not even using the
