Return codes
How does one process a return code in Asterisk? Example... exten => s,n,Playback(/tmp/podcast/${CALLERIDNUM}) exten => s,n,System(rm "/tmp/podcast/${CALLERIDNUM}.gsm") If the caller hangs up on the playback command the file remove System statement after it never gets executed. The playback command returns a -1 in this case and logs a warning. The only thing mentioned in the

large file storing in postgres sucks?
Hi, I''m not sure if this is a postgres issue or not, but I''m using Postgres 8.1. I have (in my functional tests) the following code: upload = fixture_file_upload(''/files/podcast.mp3'', ''audio/mpeg'') post :create, :product => valid_product, :media => { :image => upload } And then in the controller: blob = Blob.create :data

Camping Podcast
I''m putting together an episode of the Rails podcast that will be dedicated to Camping. I already have the first interview recorded. I''d like to get 3 or 4 more short interviews (short...maybe 4.096 minutes each). If you''d like instant fame, send me an email and tell me what camping project you would like to talk about, what your skype username is, and when is a good

Centos podcast on FLOSS weekly
If you've ever wondered what Karanbir Singh looks like, check out this week's (142) video podcast at http://twit.tv/floss. I'm only partway through the audio version (will finish on the drive home) and haven't heard anything that would be surprising to people already using Centos yet but it's a great presentation and something to recommend to people who aren't

ROaR: A Ruby on Rails Podcast
I''m starting a new podcast to cover some of the hot topics going on in Rails. Half news, half interactive, all community. As always, the first episode kinda sucks but I''m looking forward to feedback from all of you on how to make it better. http://www.simiancodex.com/roar/ or for iTunes people http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=163609703 Michael

Full_Name: Ulrike Gr?mping Version: 2.2.1 OS: Windows Submission from: (NULL) (84.190.139.94) A wish somehow related to my wish 8658: Package foreign allows to import categorical data from SPSS (and possibly other software) using the original codes, which are often useful for data manipulation, since one can use already available lists of codes from others who don't use R etc. The original

Extending SuperRedCloth
Fellows of the cloth -- I''m writing code that subclasses RedCloth and emits styled text that is not HTML. For example, I''m going to be emitting RTF and other formats from Textile or Markdown. I''ve got it working quite well with plainclothed RedCloth, but I can''t seem to override any of the methods in SuperRedCloth. Here''s a sample:

New and need help
Hello everyone. I haven't used Icecast yet but I'm hoping it can help me with what I want to do. I listen to podcasts a lot. Most of the time I'm at work I have something playing in the background. The problem is once one ends I have to select another to play. Or if they have all been played I can't use the auto next feature. So what I would like to do is setup a machine

Database Config as DSL
In listening to this week''s Ruby on Rails Podcast the issue of YAML came up, and it got me thinking. Yes, YAML is very simple and cleanly defines both the database configuration and fixtures, but couldn''t the same thing be accomplished in Ruby? Jamis and others have encouraged the use of DSLs to simplify and clarify code. Since Django (whose author was on the podcast) uses

Improving audio bitrate for all callers in a conference room for a podcast
Hello, As a podcaster I use Asterisk extensively and often have several people in a conference room. We'll record the calls via a SIP phone connected to a sound mixer. Is there an easy way to bump up the audio bitrate for all callers connected to the Asterisk server and improve the general sound quality? The server is not used much outside of recording the podcast. We're not opposed to

How to get podcasters to adopt Speex?
Ok, I made my own sample HTML page and it worked on a vorbis OGG file that I embedded. No need to download a player (other than the directshow filter if it isn't already installed) and no need to download sample. It just played within the browser. I should probably try to release a podcast like this at 16 kbps and see how well it's received. -----Original Message----- From: Jean-Marc

Hints & examples for content creators & packagers
At speex.org, I read that Speex is well-suited to internet audio streaming and audio books. However, I am having difficulty finding or creating audio-book-type material of acceptable audio quality vs file size. For the sake of comparison, look at the speex sample in Ubuntu's example-content_26_all.deb vs http://podcast.msnbc.com/audio/podcast/pd_mtp.mp3 The mp3 sounds ok, streams and seeks

rspec with continuations: very strange
I appear to have written code which travels backwards through time: http://www.vimeo.com/742590 This disturbs me immensely. If anyone can explain it, that would be cool. I think it''s an illusion brought about by how RSpec wraps the code it executes, and by the sheer weirdness of continuations. -- Giles Bowkett Blog: http://gilesbowkett.blogspot.com Portfolio:
