[LLVMdev] Different behavoir when writing to stdout with 2 raw_fd_ostreams with or w/o redirection
Dear all,
Consider there is a program that writes to stdout using two different
raw_fd_ostream-s:
#include "llvm/LLVMContext.h"
#include "llvm/Module.h"
#include "llvm/Support/raw_ostream.h"
using namespace llvm;
int main()
{
raw_fd_ostream S(STDOUT_FILENO, false);
outs() << "Hello";
S << ", world!";

Dovecot 2.0.7 doesn't disassociate STDERR when it daemonizes.
At least it appears that way on my FreeBSD 8.1 system. This is probably
unnoticeable in regular use but I happen to use CFengine(v2) for system
configuration & monitoring. If it notices dovecot not running it tries
to start it and hangs.
I believe cfengine (cfagent) has created a pipe to monitor the start
commmand's stderr and is waiting for this pipe to close. This never
happens

raw_fd_ostream does buffered I/O, so it's not really meant to be used like
this.

Why dup()?
Hello all,
My scripts, which read stdout from ssh, weren't seeing EOF from the
remote session.? It was being sent, but lost.? I tracked it down to the
following code, in ssh.c, at ssh_session2_open:
??????? if (stdin_null_flag) {
??????????????? in = open(_PATH_DEVNULL, O_RDONLY);
??????? } else {
??????????????? in = dup(STDIN_FILENO);
??????? }
??????? out = dup(STDOUT_FILENO);

[PATCH 1/2] daemon: NFC Use symbolic names in commandrvf
Improve readability of commandrvf() by replacing bare int values for
file descriptors with their symbolic names STD{IN,OUT,ERR}_FILENO.
Also add PIPE_READ and PIPE_WRITE for referencing relevant ends of a pipe.

[PATCH] daemon: improve internal commandrvf
- add a flag to request chroot for the process, which is done only as
very last (before chdir) operation before exec'ing the process in the
child: this avoids using CHROOT_IN & CHROOT_OUT around command*
invocations, and reduces the code spent in chroot mode
- add failure checks for dup2 and open done in child, not proceeding to
executing the process if they fail
- open /dev/null

Would that really be useful?? Output from Ill-behaved libraries,
written fd 1, already go to the same place.? Don't forget, dup does
not create a new file, it creates a duplicate

[LLVMdev] Behaviour of outs()?
I was just fixing a bug that was caused by `stdout` being closed
before the runtime has done `fflush(stdout)` [or however this is
implemented in the runtime].
The cause of this seems to be that `outs()` returns a static object
created from `raw_fd_stream(STDOUT_FILENO, true)` - the `true` being
the `shouldClose` parameter.
Surely LLVM is not supposed to close `stdout` as part of its operations?

Why dup()?
I've been using ssh without it duping stdout and stderr, and had no
problems.? I think this change should be made to the master source.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH SSH RIGHT NOW?
It duplicates FILENO_STDOUT and FILENO_STDERR, thus there are two
descriptors for each of these files.? When the remote program closes its
stdout or stderr, the remote sshd sends the appropriate message to the
local

Menu for call forwarding or voicemail
I would like to create a simple menu that would allow a caller to
decide whether they want to leave a message or be forwarded to another
number (i.e cell phone). Thanks in advance for any insight.

Unable to use 'valid users' from Active Directory
I am able to return users and groups using wbinfo -g and -u. Samaba will
even allow users to connect that are in our domain. The problem exist
while trying to narrow down permissions to a share.

Strange permissions problems
I had this problem some last year and never got it figured out. Now it
is bugging me. It seems that sometimes when a student writes his/her
file to a directory, it will not keep the correct group. It puts
his/her main group as the group owner and that fouls things up. Here is
what I have.

[patch] kinit cmdline handling change
Following mail advice from maximilian attems (thanks).
The following patch changes 2 parts of kinit's command line parameter handling.
1) Parse command line parameters passed to kinit *before*
/proc/cmdline, in order to allow overrides
2) Pass this resultant command line to the init program, rather than
forcing the kinit caller to pass all /proc/cmdline parameters to the
kinit call.

[LLVMdev] Behaviour of outs()?
We've had this argument before. IMO LLVM should not be in the business of
closing stdout, and no code in lib/ should print to stdout because users
may expect output there (-o -).

Session problem mongrel behind Apache proxy
Hi,
I''ve configured mongrel_clusters behind an Apache 2.2 proxy using
named virtual host. Session are saved as ActiveRecordSession. But the
cookies created on client side doesn''t correspond to session data
saved in database (keys are different). The RoR app react just like
it doesn''t have a session at all.
If I don''t use Apache as a proxy/load balancer

adding a second extension
I'm trying to add a second extension to my setup. The second device is
able to successfully connect to the Asterisk server. I am unable to
contact extension 101 from 102 and vise-versa. Also are my context
setup logically or is there a better fashion to organize them? My
error is at the bottom.

Asterisk 1.4.20.1 with bad gsm file playback
Hi All,
I'm stumped on this and I looking for some clues to fix this.
This is a new install of Slackware 12.1 onto an IBM x330 Server.
Asterisk 1.4.20.1 plays the wav files and the Cepstral_Allison Swift just
fine, but when I play the gsm files the audio quite choppy. And, the files
produced from the MixMonitor don't even record any audio other than noise.
I have a hard drive from
