Can''t seem to get rewrite rules to work with Apache
Hi,
I''m struggling to get an Apache rewrite rule to work. I have a
simple rule that for a request to "a.html" will be sent to "b.html".
However the requests for "a.html" are always sent to my Rails apps.
Here is my Apache configuration:
<VirtualHost 216.154.219.19:80>
<Directory /u/apps/simplelog_2.0.2/public/>

RoR&Apache - htaccess rewrite directories fail?
On my server I have a directory at the root, /rails/ which contains
other directories with rails projects. In my httpd.conf I have
RewriteEngine On
RewriteLog "logs/rewrite.log"
RewriteLogLevel 9
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/rails/([^/]+)/public/
RewriteRule ^/rails/([^/]+)/?(.*)$ /rails/$1/public/$2 [QSA,L]
So with a GET /rails/test/ you''d get sent to /rails/test/public/ and

apache rewrite
Is there some easy way to rewrite just the base URL to another URL but
leave all other URL's unmolested?
i.e.
http://www.example.com = rewrite to another URL
http://www.example.com/files = deliver from the assigned subdirectory
obviously this...
Redirect / http://www.other_url.com
redirects everything
and I don't want /files to be redirected

page caching - rewrite rules/ trailing slash question
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has run into this issue in which trailing slashes
are triggering the controller/action instead of serving the cached page in the public/ directory.
For example
www.myhost.com/controller/action - will serve up public/controller/action.html
but www.myhost.com/controller/action/ - will run the action again.
I''m quite newbie with the entire Apache

[OT] Apache rewrite stuff...
Hi all, a little off topic, but was wondering what the best way is to
re-write incoming requests so that they all end up at the same domain.
For example, if I had:
my_domain.net
my_domain.com
my_domain.org
Whats the best way to map/redirect all of these to
www.my_domain.com
?
I know its possible, just not sure what to add for rules/virtual hosts
in my apache config.
Thanks for the help!

Rewrite problem or routing issue?
I''m not able to access anything in public, everything seems to be going
through the rails router. As a result, I can''t get to stylesheets or
javascript.
I''m not quite clear if this is a .htaccess problem, or a router problem.
I eliminated the "catchall" route, so the last route is
map.connect '':controller/:action/:id''

Apache mod_proxy mongrel_cluster and subversion http
Hello everyone,
I have a site setup where I need to have svn access and my rails app
accessible on the same IP. Right now I can only seem to have one or the
other.
This is a production environment... I''m running Ubuntu 7.04 server with
apache2 and mod_proxy serving rails requests to 2 mongrel servers via
mongrel_cluster and it works great to serve the app when I use this
httpd.conf file

Apache 2.0 proxy
This is the configuration I use with Apache v2.0. I don''t use virtual hosts.
This configuration lets Apache serve the images, javascripts, and stylesheets. ?
This means that the application needs to be installed on the Apache server as
wheel as the mongrel server(s) in multiple server environments. ?
If i wanted to flatten the resource directories I could avoid the rewrite
rules,

This is likely to be an Apache rewrite problem and not, as was

Use mod_rewrite rules instead of rails-routes
Hi
I am trying to use mod_rewrite rules instead of rails routes (don''t ask
why.., routes are not flexible enough in my case):
Basically I have these two RewriteRules in my .htaccess file:
RewriteRule ^(.*\/)*index\.([0-9]+)\.([0-9]+)\.html$
/keywords/show?id=$2&page=$3
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ dispatch.fcgi [QSA,L]
So I want /foo/bar/index.123.4.html rewritten to

Mongrel and Apache docs?
Any news on the Apache Best Practice Deployment instructions? I''m
getting ready to set up a production server, and would prefer to use
Apache and Mongrel/Cluster. Don''t think I''ll be able to get the
latest Apache though. Do I have to proxy through Pound or something
to handle multiple mongrel instances? Any pointers?
Any help appreciated,
Brett

Multiple Rails Apps in 1 Virtual Host on Apache 1.3
After attempting this on my own using the Apache "Alias" directive I
noticed that it did not work in all cases:
http://myserver/app1/ (this worked)
http://myserver/app1 (this failed, I won''t bore you with the rewrite
logs of why)
This led me to the following article

Which I followed.

Problem with images on Apache and Lighttpd
Hello.
Since two days I am trying to set up two rails-apps on a vserver-host so
that I can access from work ;-)
I tried all I can imagine and what Google/MSN teached me: FastCGI, SCGI,
Lighttpd, Apache, Alias, Vhosts,....
But nothing really works. I am on Debian 3.1 with Ruby 1.8.4, Rails
1.1.2, FastCGI 2.4.0, mod_fastcgi 2.4.2, ruby_fcgi 0.8.6, ruby_gems
0.8.11, Apache 2.0.54, Lighttpd

Apache config: Two different rails apps using same domain name (mod_rewrite issue)
The problem I''m solving here is that I have two different Rails applicatons
that uses the same domain name. One handles the www (e.g. www.mycoolapp.com)
and is used as the main site, and the other handles the user subdomains
(e.g.. someuser.mycoolapp.com). The DNS stuff and the Apache virtual hosts
were all set up, the two rails apps are in place in the file system, and the

mongrel cluster w/ apache
hi all,
i''m working on deploying my app w/ apache and a mongrel cluster. i''ve
started by copying the instructions and code from the agile rails book
and everything seems to be working fine but apache isn''t forwarding my
requests to mongrel the way i expect it should. there''s nothing in the
rewrite logs and nothing but 404 errors in the apache error logs.

Apache Re-Write and Directories
Howdy,
I am using the ''default'' Apache 2.2 mod_rewrite rules suggested from the Web
site and they are working.
One thing related to static (non cluster directed) resources:
If I have a directory in public called ''static'', if I request it as follows:
http://www.domain.com/static/ - then it works
If I request it as:
http://www.domain.com/static - then it
