Compiling the latest SVN checkout
Hello,
I just checked out the latest version of speex and I want to compile it.
The INSTALL file says that's easy:
bjoern@deimos:~/studium/beleg/resources/svn/speex$ cat INSTALL
Installing Speex is as easy as:
% ./configure [--prefix=<install-path>]
% make
% make install
Note that if you are using the code from SVN, you will need to run
"autogen.sh" instead of

How to debug a missing symbol with ThinLTO?
Hi Tobias
The problem is that your static archive has a SYMDEF that is empty, so linker thinks the static library provided doesn't contain any symbol. The reason for that is you are using the `ranlib` from Xcode, which is too old to understand the new bitcode object files produced by llvm 10.
There are lots of ways to fix that:
* The standard way to create static library on macOS is to use

Vorbis 1.0.1 release compile errors (libvorbis, vorbistools)
Well, I grabbed the tarballs this morning and found that of the three
new releases, only libogg1.1 would compile without and issue. I had to
recompile my flac1.1.0 for ogg support, and it gave me a new error (or
I wasnt paying attention, anyway...) it will finish compiling and
install, but I only ran make check on the original compile, not the new
one with OggFLAC attached and stuff...

libao on OS X
OK, wanted to check out the macosx driver for libao on me new iBook.
Everything compiles beautifully (given some utils from the fink project,
like automake), but...
but the dynamic plugin system is broken.
1) on OS X, dll's en in .dylib, not .so, as is hardwired in. this should
be an easy fix.
2) dlopen chokes on opening the .dylib files...so the plugin is never
loaded. i know not enought

How to debug a missing symbol with ThinLTO?
Looks like your static library is not even pulled into the link command so the static library is not even in the snapshot. From the link command in the snapshot, the static library is not on the command line from snapshot:
/Applications/Xcode-11.3.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/ld -Z -demangle -object_path_lto

patch for compilation under MACOSX
I just compiled speex under my new intel iMac with MacOSX
and get a compilation issue with the malloc.h header not
being found.
Here is a patch that avoid inclusion of malloc.h
under MACOSX. (I'm using osx version 10.4 - Tiger)

build issues
BTW, I ran into a few issues building with recent cvs.
You might want to consider copying autogen.sh from one of the other xiph
codec projects and setting a proper minimum version in AUTOMAKE_OPTIONS.
The current one just breaks if it the default automake isn't the
appropriate version, but debian based systems (at least) often
have several versions installed in parallel. We have code to

flac fails to build shared library under MinGW
After applying two patches:
1. http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac-dev/2008-August/002570.html
2.
http://wolf-u.li/4567/fehler-waehrend-der-kompilierung-von-flac-memcmp-was-not-declared-in-this-scope/
I was able to build flac without error, and noticed that shared library is
silently skipped.
After searching the logs I found this line as suspect:

autogen.sh trouble with latest CVS checkout
Hello All:
I just checked out the whole icecast but cannot build anything because
autogen wouldn't cooperate. I have automake-1.7.6 just installed from
ftp.gnu.org. Below is an example output in trying to build "icecast";
it's not very short... Thanks in advance for any help.

shared libraries on FreeBSD 4.*
I've used R for a couple of years on FreeBSD with few problems. Recently,
a couple of the contributed packages seem to have difficulty finding
symbols in the shared libraries. Currently, I'm running R 1.3.1 on FreeBSD
4.4. I've tried setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/local/lib
and some other things. The packages I've had trouble with are:
Matrix 0.3.15
RODBC 0.8.3
RSPython 0.3

Ld64.lld cannot find Foundation framework
Dear LLVM community I need some help please.
I want to use LLVM's clang and lld within a MacOSX sandboxed app. This is because sandboxing does not allow calls to /usr/bin/clang.
The clang binary works fine to compile a file, but ld64.lld comes up with the error "cannot find framework".
However similar arguments using /usr/bin/ld instead of ld64.lld works fine.
Here are the
