[LLVMdev] Being able to know the jitted code-size before emitting
Hi, Two questions. 1) How are you computing size of the method being jitted? 2) Why not simply add the functionality of allocating emission buffer of specific size to MachineCodeEmitter instead? Thanks, Evan On Mar 30, 2008, at 12:05 PM, Nicolas Geoffray wrote: > Hi everyone, > > vmkit requires to know the size of a jitted method before emitting > the method. This allows to

Since the target calls the emitter with functions such as writeByte, writeWord, etc.... the SizeEmitter class implements these function by incrementing a counter. At the end of the pass, the code size of the

Reviewing it a little, I can not see how things won't be duplicated.

[LLVMdev] Being able to know the jitted code-size before emitting
Hi everyone, vmkit requires to know the size of a jitted method before emitting the method. This allows to allocate the correct size for the method. The attached patch creates this functionality when the flag SizedMemoryCode is on. In order to implement this functionality, i had to virtualize some MachineCodeEmitter functions. Is it OK to commit the patch? Thanks, Nicolas --------------

[LLVMdev] MachineFunction::create docs
The docs for MachineFunction::create method have a couple of nits: // The next three methods are used to construct, destruct, and retrieve the // MachineFunction object for the given method. // // construct() -- Allocates and initializes for a given method and target // get() -- Returns a handle to the object. // This should not be called before

[LLVMdev] Exception handling in JIT
Hi everyone, Here's a patch that enables exception handling when jitting. I've copy/pasted _many_code from lib/Codegen/DwarfWriter.cpp, so we may need to factorize it, but the functionality is there and I'm very happy with it :) lli should now be able to execute the output from llvm-gcc when using exceptions (the UnwindInst instruction is not involved in this patch). Just add the

[LLVMdev] MBB Critical edges
Sorry about the tardiness of my reply. My mail client has playing tricks with me. :-) I am assuming the issue has nothing to do the branch to jumptable instructions but rather the MachineJumpTableInfo associated with every MachineFunction? If so, please take a look at BranchFoldiing.cpp for an example. Evan On Aug 10, 2007, at 12:30 PM, Fernando Magno Quintao Pereira wrote: > >

[LLVMdev] Question about linking llvm-mc when porting a new backend
Hello all, I am a LLVM newer who want to add a new backend(EBC) into LLVM. After coping the related files from another target and modifying it, I meet a problem when I build the project. The error message is as follows: ================================================================ [ 94%] Built target llvm-dis Linking CXX executable ../../bin/llvm-mc Undefined symbols:

[LLVMdev] MBB Critical edges
Hi, This pass is similar to the one in BreakCriticalEdges.cpp, but it works for MachineFunction's, instead of Functions. The existence of critical edges complicates many optimizations. When doing register allocation, you don't necessarily have to remove critical edges (you can use conventional SSA-form, for instance. See "Translating Out of Static Single Assignment Form. SAS
