Samba-Share and problems with archives and CRC-Check
Hello Samba-Team,
I have some problems with Samba and winrar-archives.
Everytime I save a winrar-archive (don't know what happens to zip-archives...) on a samba-share and execute it (on W2K) I get errors like "CRC-Error. The file may be corrupt...". Also copying the file to W2K first and then executing brings the same error-message.
Without saving the .rar-archive to samba (only

Ark can't handle RAR archive
Hi,
I'm running CentOS 7 with KDE. Ark can't seem to handle a RAR archive,
even though I have unrar from the Nux repository installed.
Any idea what's wrong here?
Cheers,
Niki

some report on type 3 wav
Dear all,
I have a wav file that when I try to encode with the FLAC Frontend, I
get "ERROR: unsupported format type 3".
When I open it with an audio editor I find it is 44100 / 32 bit. I
requantized it to 16 bit using the default dither and then compressed it
with FLAC to get a 61 Mbyte file (the original was about 347 Mbyte).
Obviously, this altered somewhat the quality, although

Loop Load Elimination - RAR forward deps
Hi Adam,
I'm looking into your LLE pass in order to remove the RAR dependency
from GVN, and I've hit a problem that might need some more thinking.
I've modified your patch to cope with both kinds of dependencies in
the ForwardingCandidate class, but the way the pass gathers
informations only brings RAW dependencies:
const auto *Deps = LAI.getDepChecker().getDependences();

rar incompatiblity from 4.4 to 4.5
i just upgraded my centOS to 4.5 and i try to install rar and i get this
problem, isn't apt should automatically install all deps?
---snip----
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

What is everyone using in the way of a
rar/par utility? Does anyone use this to preserve important files? Google did not help me much here.
Thanks!

Is it good practice to have a package depend on Rtools(for unziping of .7z and.rar files)? Crab legal?
r-package-devel is the right mailing list for your query, not here.

Using xdg-open by default under Wine
Hello.
Is there a way to make Wine use the xdg-open program by default when opening file types it does not know about?
For example, I have XArchive with RAR support, but don't have WinRAR installed on Wine.
I want to make Wine use xdg-open, which will call XArchive which in turn will use the `rar' program to operate on the file.
Any help on this topic?

Ark vs. RAR files under CentOS 7
Hi,
Over the past weeks, I've configured and fine-tuned a bells-and-whistles
desktop based on CentOS 7 and KDE, which I've documented in detail on my
blog:
* https://www.microlinux.fr/poste-de-travail-entreprise-centos-7-kde/
So far I have one single thing that's not working. It's a little detail,
but I'm sure it will come bite me, since I know some of my users need

I created this package,
https://github.com/lucasmation/microdadosBrasil
which we are preparing for Cran submission. The package facilitates
downloading and reading most of the microdatasets (household surveys,
Census, etc). For each dataset it:
(a) downloads the data from the data providers
(b) "unzip" the necessary files
(c) imports the data into R.
For (b), some of the datasets

dll override for select apps only
I've been experimenting with Wine on Ubuntu Edgy.
I installed WinRAR, and when it didn't work, I looked at this page:
http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p=winrar350
First I copied the required dll (comctl32.dll) over from Windows to the
program dir (not the Wine windows dir), then tried to add it via winecfg,
simply entering the name in the dialog.
Then Winecfg couldn't start again.

Wine - How to copy files with File Manager?
Situation: I've bottlered WinRAR with WineBottler (Mac OS X). Firstly, after running Wine.app, it asked my to update to 1.1.43 version, so I've accepted it. The update was fine and then I proceeded to the bottlering of WinRAR.
The app is working well and I didn't have to install any additional winetrick.
However, theres a problem: I need to copy a file into this bottle, but the bottle
