long delay when connecting to samba server
Hi all,
I am experiencing a long delay when connecting from a windows machine
to my samba server. All the details of my setup are below. Here are
the characteristics of the problem:
client (windows xp desktop) browses to domain in Network Places.
samba server appears as expected.
double-clicking on the samba server causes a delay of approximately
one minute before share drives are

Long Delay after sip reload command
Hello:
I am experiencing long delays, minutes not seconds, after issuing sip reload or
/etc/init.d/asterisk restart commands. When reloading Asterisk, for the first
minute or more, sip show registry says there is no such command.
When sip show registry begins to provide information, registration can take
another 3-4 minutes. Sometimes, timeouts occur as well, and sometimes these

Winbind causes LLOONNGG delays
I have Samba 3.0.4 joined to a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain
with about 16,000 users and 1,000 groups. I run FreeBSD 5.2.1 on a
Dell PowerEdge 1750, dual proc P4 Xeon with HTT and 1 gig of RAM.
Storage is RAID-5, three drives, 36G each. I use winbind to auth
users when accessing shares on the server. This is going to be our
new fileserver.
Check this:

W2K8 online migration delays guest execution 45-50 seconds
I''m experiencing a problem with XenEnterprise migration for a Windows
2008 server VM where a large % of the time I notice a 45-50 sec delay
after the VM has been migrated to the other side. I''m wondering if
anyone in this list is using XenEnterprise and has tried W2k8
migrations.
Thanks in advance.

Delays on E1 Delivered via SHDSL
I have an Asterisk system with a TE110P installed and connected to an ISDN
E1 PRI that is delivered via a 2mb SHDSL connection. I am experiencing
delays (the type of delay you would get on an international call) during
calls. I am wondering if anyone could advise, would the problem be with any
part of the Asterisk system or is the problem with the fact that the ISDN is
delivered over the internet?

Intermittent long (~20-second) delays getting to files in a share
Hi,
I'm a newbie to the list, so bear with my ignorance.
I have installed 3.0.14a on FC3, and am using it on a network of 5 XP boxes.
The symptoms are as follows:
When I initially start using the server, there is a significant delay (~
20 seconds) to accessing the share (home directory or a regular file
share). After that I can open files with no problems (near-instant
response) for about 2

how can I reduce delays in meetme with zap channels
My boss is complaining that the delay between speaking and hearing in a
meetme conference is noticeable and doesn't want to roll out our system
until I can eliminate the delay.
Personally, I don't think the delay is significant, but I don't sign his
check.
The system consist of 3 1u's, each with a single quad t1 card. Each card
has 2 t1's running NFAS.

Oh, delay = frame_size + lookahead
If you have a frame size of 20 ms, then there's no choice but

Delays estimation in Speex algorithms
Speex tells me that the decoder is always 5 ms, but it says that the
encoder is 5 ms for NB, 8.9375 ms for WB, and 10.90625 ms for UWB. Is
there an extra frame of delay in the encoder that isn't otherwise
accounted for?

Inter-asterisk conferencing delays - IAX2 configuration problem?
Hi
We are having a significant (> 1 sec) delay in a multi-asterisk conference, with IAX2 legs connecting meetme on different boxes.
All the other legs are PSTN (TE410P). The example configuration
Slave box 1 meetme <--- IAX2 ---> Master box meetme <--- IAX2 ---> Slave box 2 meetme
The delay is between Slave box 1 and Slave box 2
The primary suspect is our iax configuration

how does the echo canceller deal with playback/capture delays?
hello jean-marc and everybody,
I keep getting no results when trying to use speex_echo_capture,
speex_echo_playback and speex_echo_cancel in a multi-threaded application, as
suggested in the manual. Though, the cancellation works properly when i use a
file with human voice for far-end input and the same file with echo added in
SoundForge for mic input. When i try to insert and remove silence

Delays opening Excel/Word files off samba shares.
At my work, I've been pushing linux as a server solution for quite some
time. They've decided to give it a go, and the main company file server is
now a piii 933 with 512Mb RAM, a promise 6 channel RAID5 controller (IDE),
and 6 x 80Gb drives.
It's running RedHat 7.1 (with the usual kernel updates to 2.4.10), with
samba 2.2.1a and the latest Reiser FS...
Now at the moment, we

Auth failure delays
Currently Dovecot works like this when authentication fails:
- the delay is always at least auth_failure_delay seconds (default: 2s)
- each failed attempt doubles the delay for that specific imap/pop3
connection (no such delays for e.g. smtp)
- the delay's upper limit is 3 minutes
For v2.0 I was planning on making dovecot-auth process do these checks
and keeping the state in anvil

Delays estimation in Speex algorithms
JM,
I also need to know the precise delays from Speex but I used the
SPEEX_GET_LOOKAHEAD control requests to determine them (plus the
"speex_resampler_get_output_latency" function from the resampler). The
returned values from the Speex lookahead request don't seem to match
with the values you gave Alexander. Am I doing this wrong? Thanks,

Audio delays during file playback and zap channel activity
Hi -
I've noticed that I'm getting audio delays when asterisk is playing
back a file from disk and new zap channels are being created or
destroyed. Audio streams are generally fine (person to person calls
do not experience this issue). Sometimes the drops are very short -
barely noticeable. Sometimes they are up to 1 second, and whatever
file is being played resumes at the

Delay opening office files
Hi,
we're running a pretty old samba server (Suse 7.0, Samba 2.0.7)
authenticating against a NT server and it always worked fine. Never
change a running system?
Since we switched our clients to win2k, we sometimes have delays opening
office files. The delays occur irregularly, 4 or 5 times a day and take
up to 1 minute. I wonder if this might be an authentication problem.

hypatia problems?
Dear all
Off topic to some extent but Ted Harding has just called me to say he is
(a) seeing large delays in the list messages when it is sent internally
from hypatia.math.ethz.ch. I get only a delay of an hour which is
reasonable in the scrap below but Ted reports delays of the order 24
hours,
(b) messages he has sent to the list don't appear on it for a long time.
Is anyone else

Issues with authentication failure delays
There are two rather clear issues with the state of authentication
failure delays. First, the delay length isn't what was (presumably)
intended. Second, there is a new way of doing failure delays in Dovecot
2 which was added *in addition to* the old method, rather than replacing
it. As a result delays may not be the expected length and settings don't
have the expected effect.
First, the

IAX Huge Delays after Hold or Transfer
In some configuration experiments, I have one IAX softphone connecting over
the internet to my Asterisk system. (I should note that, while there IS a
NAT firewall between Asterisk and the public Internet, I have port
forwarding set up on that firewall to send all IAX traffic to the Asterisk
machine.)
The IAX softphone connects to either an analog phone on an FXS port on the
Asterisk server,
