[LLVMdev] Port to Solaris' Sun Studio 8
Well, line 364 wasn't actually what was holding me up, so it's a bad
example, but the problem's still relevant. Using cast<...>(iter),
dyn_cast<...>(iter), or isa<...>(iter) results in the error messages
mentioned below.

[LLVMdev] Compilation error with LLVM 2.9
Hi all,
I wrote code that compiled with llvm 2.8, but now I'm using llvm
2.9 and it doesn't compile anymore:
My code looks like this:
User *U;
...
if (PHINode * phi = dyn_cast<PHINode>(U)) {
...
BasicBlock * Pred = phi->getIncomingBlock(I);
...
}
And when I compile it with clang:

[LLVMdev] Problem using ilist container
Hi All,
I have just started using LLVM .
i am facing a issue while using ilist container.
Here is a struct with ilist container as its one element.
typedef ilist<Instruction *> InstListType;
struct list_node {
int Impact;
InstListType InstList;

[LLVMdev] Pool Allocation Segfaulting with opt
Hi,
I'm trying to run the pool allocation pass through opt, and I'm running
into problems. It segfaults frequently; for example, it does this when
the input is a simple Hello World program:
[simmon12 at apoc testcases]$ opt -load
/home/vadve/simmon12/llvm/llvm/projects/llvm-poolalloc/Debug/lib/libLLVMDataStructure.so

[LLVMdev] [RC1] Status of Visual Studio 8, 9 and 10
Good evening, guys!
At first, I apologize my report is a little gross, I have so little
time to do checking process minutely.
* RC1
RC1 can be built on VS8, 9, 10 with Debug|Release.
At one point, r127264(in release_29/trunk) is needed to build with
Debug on VS10.
RC1 can pass clang-test with any configurations.
RC1 fails llvm's check on many tests.
* RC1 and patches
ToT would be ready

[LLVMdev] another question
In the section expaining "dyn_cast"
There are following lines of code:
if (AllocationInst *AI = dyn_cast<AllocationInst>(Val)) {
...
}
I cannot understand how you take a operand, a value, and cast
it into a Instruction. Can you explain it for me?
Another common example is:
// Loop over all of the phi nodes in a basic block
BasicBlock::iterator BBI =

[LLVMdev] weird issue with mem2reg
MetaSplit is an anlysis I just finished writing. It doesn't alter anything,
all it does is build a set of "program instructions". For some reason even
though if I run it with any other combination of passes I've found, anytime
I run it with mem2reg I get a seg fault in dyn_cast! Here's output:
Starting program:

[LLVMdev] crash in 2.7: SCCPSolver::ResolvedUndefsIn
Are there any known issues with the ResolvedUndefsIn in 2.7? We've hit this particular stack a couple times now in the JIT. I've copied the failing bitcode to disk and doesn't crash opt or llc. It doesn't repro easily in the JIT either, but the stack is always the same... hoping it's a known issue. Thanks!

[LLVMdev] A basicblock iterator bug in llvm
AAAH!
I see you are still at 2.5. Then this patch (the fix)
is relevant for you:
<http://llvm.org/viewvc/llvm-project/llvm/trunk/include/llvm/ADT/
ilist.h?r1=66061&r2=68785&diff_format=h>
Cheers,
Gabor

[LLVMdev] Strange error using CallInst constructor
Please keep replies on the list.
Now you've missed "InputIterator must be a random-access iterator
pointing to contiguous storage (e.g. a std::vector<>::iterator).
Checks are made for random-accessness but not for contiguous storage
as that would incur runtime overhead." from CallInst's constructor
(although that comment should be on Create()). Function::arg_iterator

[LLVMdev] Erasing Instruction
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to erase an instruction, (specially a
load/store instruction) ?
If I use Instr->eraseFromParent(), I get following error. Note the
instruction does not have any use.

[LLVMdev] isa<UnaryInstruction> borked in 2.1
Hi
I just had some code which filtered via isa<UnaryInstruction>. Strangely
enough not only the instructions which inherited UnaryInstructions but also:
GetElemPtrInst, SwitchInst , xor, shl
where true on isa<UnaryInstruction>. While the first two seem to be at least
semantically ok the latter seem somehow wrong?
I didn't find the place where the isa_impl templates where
