let's see what the app store says
"multimarkdown composer" has been out for 4 weeks now,
so let's mosey on over to the app store to see what it says...
"composer" is #184 in productivity apps, a bit disappointing,
considering that it was in the top-20 when it first came out...
it's gained only 5 reviews over the 18 it had right off the bat.
perhaps even more surprising, to some, is that

evolving the spec (was: forking Markdown.pl?)

I think the whole enterprise would be a lot more valuable, if we
produce a combined spec, which would be self-contained, and call it
Markdown 2.0.
I don't think we necessarily need a formal grammar. What we need is
to create a document, starting with "Markdown Syntax" perhaps,

Great work!
I've just spent a happy couple of days writing a text file for formatting with
Markdown. The results are phenomenal! It's easy to write, and attractive to
read. I'll try to send a Christmas present to the writer :-)
But when I looked at the perl source, I also found that it was small and
well-structured. Of course, I couldn't resist adding a few things that appealled
to me.

Universal syntax for Markdown
Hi,
because of the great editor "Writer" from Information Architects I've
learned about Markdown and I love it. But it's very confusing, that
there are so many standards with different features: classical
Markdown, Markdown Extra, MultiMarkdown. I think for most users and
the spreading of Markdown it would be nice, to have only one syntax.
And this universal syntax should have

footnote:id, colons and jquery
I just received a [bug report] for Python-Markdown complaining that
colons are used in the ids of footnotes. For reference, we [output]
the same format at PHP Markdown Extra. The general complaint is that
the colon in the id attribute (`id="fnref:1"`) causes jquery to choke
when referencing that id from javascript because jquery uses colons to
indicate pseudo elements (as does CSS). As

MultiMarkdown 2.0.a Released
I have released version 2.0.a of MultiMarkdown!
This is an alpha/beta release to get some further feedback, but I
have been using it for a while now with good results.
There are a **bunch** of new features:
* TextMate bundle
* New versions of the Drag and Drop tools
* support for math
* improved XSLT style sheets - easier to customize and more output
choices
Check out the MultiMarkdown

well, that kind of leveraged consensus would have
been the way to go about this process a year ago.

markdown conversion routines
i am considering writing converters
between my "zen markup language'
and "markdown", but i don't know
which version of markdown to target.
i'd think it'd be the "pandoc" version,
and i understand that to be closest to
"multimarkdown", but gruber has said
he "disagrees" with "almost every part"
of multimarkdown's syntax

MultiMarkdown and MathML - new feature and request for help
A lot of people have expressed interest in combining math features
with Markdown, but I am not aware of any real developments from these
requests.
I was looking around and toying with [ASCIIMathPHP](http://
www.jcphysics.com/ASCIIMath/) and integrated it with MultiMarkdown
and my xhtml2latex XSLT transforms.
You can include math as an inline formula by using a markup similar

Inconsistency between legacy and release notes?
Hi,
Someone told me that DSA keys were being deprecated with OpenSSH 7.0. The only reference I could find about this topic on openSSH site is on the legacy page:
?OpenSSH 7.0 and greater similarly disable the ssh-dss (DSA) public key algorithm. It too is weak and we recommend against its use.?
There is no explanation about the weakness. But more than that, I could not find any mention

attribute blocks for definition lists
Hello,
As I am using markdown to write documentation, I am often tempted to make
links to terms in definition lists.
Since this is not possible for now (at least in php markdown extra), I was
wondering if this could be a common addition in major implementation
supporting definition lists.
the syntax would be
term {#id}
: definition
This syntax tries to follows current convention and

toast, history, sayonara
ok, while i was in the process of writing that last post,
fletcher and john weighed in themselves. that's good.
i can say some things that they can't, though, so i will.
fletcher told you how multimarkdown is booming, and
it was an impressive list. what you might not realize is,
he _undersold_ it. it is even bigger than he described,
and it's gonna _double_ in size in the next

Problem with UL followed by OL
I got a problem with UL followed by by OL
when I using perl module "Text-Markdown-1.0.5".
I wrote the following markdown code.
- a
- b
1. 1
2. 2
I expected that Text-Markdown would produce the following HTML.
<ul>
<li>a</li>
<li>b</li>
</ul>
<ol>
<li>1</li>
<li>2</li>
</ol>
However, "Text-Markdown-1.0.5"

A Modest Definition List Proposal
Howdy,
I've been thinking a lot about definition list syntax, and what I did
and didn't like about the PHP Markdown Extra syntax (which seems to be
a de-facto standard, discount notwithstanding, yes?). What I came up
with is a single character change to the PHP Markdown Extra syntax. I
just published a detailed explanation of my thoughts and reasoning for
this on [my
