Scratch 1.0
== What is Scratch? Scratch is a little toy I put together in Ruby on Rails. Think of it as a spin-off of my larger Rails app, Elite Journal. If nothing else, you can think of Scratch as a demonstration of the new Action Web Services component of Rails. From the web page: Scratch is the minimalist''s web log. Scratch gives you nothing more than the meta-weblog API for posting.

help... why can''t Iuse data from two tables in the same view
I am new to Rails and Ruby, and to OO languages, and seem to be making a very silly mistake somewhere here. Can anybody help? I am trying to write an application which involves ''exercises'', each of which consists of several ''templates''. This is based on MySQL tables with these names. I have models and controllers, built with the Rails Scaffold, for both

OT: Script Help
Sorry for the off topic, but don't a better resource. I'm not great at scripting, but need a quick script to modify a file. I have a long file that has lines like this: some text some text2 CN=DATA.OU=XYZ.O=CO some text3 some text4 And this repeats, but XYZ changes. "DATA" is always called data. (it's being renamed basically) I need to change the middle line but leave

disappearing paragraphs in html rendering of text from Rd macros
Recent changes in R-devel seem to change the HTML rendering of text returned by Rd macros, in that now empty lines do not cause paragraphs to end (the empty lines are kept but <p> tags are not set). As a result, multiple paragraphs are output as a single one. A complete example Rd file is at: https://github.com/GeoBosh/reprexes/blob/master/disappearingParagraphs/a.Rd rendered (2018-10-28)

Displaying line breaks & paragraphs using 'simple_format' ?
Hi there, I need to: 1. STORE a text of the below format in a (MySQL) database (using a ''textarea''), and then 2. RETRIEVE & DISPLAY it in exactly the same format (meaning: keeping all paragraphs/line breaks). The intended text format looks like this: *** Blah blahblah blah blah blahblah blah blah blahblah blah blah blahblah blah, blah blahblah. <- NEW

I am trying to setup Puppet + Mongrel on RHEL5. So far I have followed this document: http://projects.puppetlabs.com/projects/puppet/wiki/Using_Mongrel_On_Enterprise_Linux The puppetmasters all start up and Apache starts up on 8140. Paragraphs and html integration.
Hello everyone. It seems that I can post to the list now. Great. [1] I'm new to this list, and I've subscribed to discuss a design matter. Indeed, I'm currently writing a WebDev Toolkit in PHP for making the creations of simple websites and web applications quicker and easier (I'm fully aware that this kind of thing already exist, let's just say I'd doing it my way,

monospaced fonts
> The use of? monospace fonts > is an expectation for reading Markdown. > Really, it's the whole point. um... no. going way back to "triumph of the nerds", the number-one example steve jobs used to symbolize the absence of any esthetics at microsoft (and thus -- by extension -- inside the head of bill gates) was the fact they found a monospaced font acceptable.

plotting labels (not values) on xy plot
I have 2 vectors, x and y and have done an xy plot. I want to plot the label (name?) of the vector on the plot rather than the value. text(x,y, labels = x) gives me the value of x. text(x,y, labels = labels(x)) gives me something like c("text1","text2"..) plotted for each point text(x,y, labels = names(x)) gives nothing print(x) gives me [,1] text1

Converting a matrix to a dataframe: how to prevent conversion to factor
Colleages I am running R 2.1.0 on a Mac (same problem occurs in Linux). In some situations, I have mixed text/numeric data that is stored as characters in a matrix. If I convert this matrix to a dataframe, the numeric data becomes factors, not what I intend. TEXT <- paste("Text", 1:4, sep="") NUMBERS <- 10 + 4:1 MATRIX <- cbind(TEXT,

RFC: Lazy syntax for paragraphs, blockquotes and lists
Hi everybody, it was requested that kramdown (a Markdown parser in Ruby, see <http://kramdown.rubyforge.org>) supports the lazy syntax of Markdown. So I sat down, thought about it, skimmed through the Markdown ML on issues regarding lazy indentation as done with Markdown and now I have some rough idea on how to do this in kramdown. First: I'd like to say that there is no way to satisfy

Upgrade to 2.6.1 appears to break puppetmaster
Hello. While trying to get to the bottom of a puppetmaster+unicorn+nginx rig that''s serving empty files, it seemed to be a relatively sensible idea to upgrade the puppetmaster to 2.6.1 This broke in a manner that seems to be the multiple-& bug. Running the puppetmaster standalone gives the following: [ ... ] info: mount[files]: allowing *.mysparedomain.com access info:
