SYSLINUX 3.63-pre3 release candidate; SDI image booting
Hello, I just received a serious bug report from Stas Kysel of rPath (with a great test case); it appears that deleted files can confuse extlinux so that it misses files. This is bad. As a result, I have pushed out 3.63-pre3, and intend to make a 3.63 final shortly. I would appreciate any help testing this. Furthermore, I would like to finish the SDI booting module, but I have yet to

SYSLINUX 3.70 released
Hello everyone, I have just released SYSLINUX 3.70, which is the first version which includes gPXE for support of non-TFTP network scripts, as well as a large number of other enhancments. gPXE support is still somewhat experimental - in particular it still doesn't support chaining other NBPs. Very special thanks to: - rPath, Inc, my employer, for the uncountable hours I've spent

SYSLINUX 3.71 released
Hello everyone, I have just released SYSLINUX 3.71. This is pretty much a bug fix and hardware support release. The major new *features* are the "initrd" command (syntactic sugar, but it supposedly makes it easier for some tools), the "hide" option to chain.c32, and the ifcpu64.c32 module. As always, special thanks to rPath, Inc., my employer, for the countless hours I

A Few Syslinux 5.00-pre9 Bugs
Just a few bug-reports, before I forget: - A Windows installer bug for 4.06 and presumably 5.00-pre9 whereby the ADV contains backslashes. Reproduced with: syslinux.exe --directory \two\dirs e: - An open() (?) bug for 4.06 and presumably 5.00-pre9 whereby the filename /ubcd/custom/syslinux-5.00-pre9/com32/gplinclude/acpi/facs.h fails to open() after 134 iterations in a loop where it's

bug / incompatibility with USB booting in Syslinux 3.00 pre9 ?
Hi, I'm Florent BERANGER, from Flonix ( http://www.flonix.com ). After several tests, we have found that Syslinux 3.00 pre9 is no longer compatible with USB stick booting. Syslinux 2.13 works fine with this feature. Error infos : Syslinux 3.00 pre9 only displays its version and a new line with a "a" character and then hangs. Tests configuration : Syslinux applied from : Linux

vesamenu partly broken in 3.70?
Hi, As of syslinux-3.70, vesamenu.c32 seems to be broken. But here's the kicker: it's only broken when booting from USB, not from CD! What happens is that the colours are not set like I've set in the cfg and only one entry shows up. On my laptop that entry contains some really messed up symbols but on my stationary computer it's just empty, so it seems we're dealing with some

Any hints about compiling syslinux 6.03-pre9 on AMD64?
Dear all, I packaged syslinux 6.03-pre9 on AMD64 Debian Sid, however, the problem is, I have problem to use it for PXE booting (BIOS mode). It always gives me "Failed to load COM32 file vesamenu.c32". I am sure all the settings are correct because if I switch to the prebuilt syslinux downloaded from

SYSLINUX 3.00-pre9 released
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.00-pre9. The only change versus 3.00-pre8 is that the MEMDISK query API now reports the boot loader ID byte, per Bernd's suggestion. This is a release candidate, and I plan to release it as 3.00 *tomorrow*, unless I hear back anything bad. -hpa

PXELINUX memory overwrite bug - SYSLINUX 2.00-pre9 released
Hi everyone, Kevin Tran of Broadcom just identified a very serious bug in PXELINUX where random parts of the PXE stack would get overwritten by PXELINUX. As a result, I have release SYSLINUX 2.00-pre9 for testing; if you have had problems with PXELINUX **PLEASE** test this version. I will try to make a SYSLINUX 2.00 some time this week if this tests out OK. I will also hunt for similar bugs

SYSLINUX 3.11-pre9 -- release candidate; release delayed
Based on a few reports I've gotten today, I have make a new release candidate, 3.11-pre9, and am pushing out the release target to Friday, September 2. New in this release candidate: - Change to MEMDISK, which hopefully will work right both on machines with and without physical floppies. - Try to enable the 16550A FIFO for serial console. I'm hoping this will help eliminate dropped

PXELinux / gPXE no IP by DHCP
Hello everyone I am experiencing problems with PXELinux/gPXE when netbooting using HTTP. The problems I encounter: - When the intel bootROM is sending out a DHCPDISCOVER it might not recieve an IP address, but the server did send out a OFFER. Capturing packets reveals the packets have been sent, and the client _should_ have recieved it. But when it passes that stage: - When the gPXE bootROM is

MAJOR memory overwrite bug in the menu system resolved -- 3.52-pre9 (RC) released
Thanks to Dell for sending me a specimen system, and of course, rPath, my employer, for letting me spend the several days it took to chase this one down. There is a memory-overwrite bug where part of the BIOS data area gets overwritten by certain comboot calls, including some used by the simple menu system. Anyone who has had problems where booting from the prompt works but the menu system

SYSLINUX 2.20-pre9 released, now with EXTLINUX
... and this is pretty much the first version of 2.20 which can be considered likely to actually work, except for the Win32 installer. The big news in this prerelease, by far, is EXTLINUX. I'm also hacking on a "simple menu system" as a com32 module; basically a hack to re-parse the config file and display a menu of its label statements. Don't know when that'll be ready

SYSLINUX 3.72 released
Well, it has to happen at some point, so I have officially pushed out SYSLINUX 3.72. The big news in this release is of course the ISOLINUX hybrid mode support (a single image which can be booted either from a CD-ROM or from a hard disk/USB stick), but there are plenty of more goodies in here, including the label listing (not technically completion) on the Tab key. As usual, huge thanks to
