patch: SDI Xpe images support for pxelinux
Hi, I added support in pxelinux for SDI (Wndows XP embedded images) files a few time ago for specific needs. It works well (at least for me atm) and I think I can now submit it to this list. I get a very good improvement in speed over the traditional way of loading SDI images. * Links : The 'diff -urN' patch for syslinux-2.11 (documentation included) :

gpxelinux 3.70pre7 - wonderful!
Hi Peter et al, Just wanted to let you know my heartfelt appretiation of what you and the other devs have done in integrating gpxe and pxelinux... it works wonderfully well for me... I simply swapped my pxelinux.0 for my gpxelinux.0 and modified my pxelinux.cfg/default to use urls to refer to the kernel and initial ram disk images and it worked perfectly (dns resolution and all). This is a huge

pxelinux and startrom.com
Greetings Luis, I saw a thread about Startrom.com and startrom.o that had your name attached... I was wondering if you had a moment to comment on an issue that I have. I have a Linux server that is our corporate PXE server. It is set up in a logical folder structure so that a host can be pointed to boot a variety of different OS's (DOS, Linux loaders, Windows PE). Here is in my dilemma,

Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
Hi everybody, I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 on an old desktop PC with a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS and a screen of 19 inches. The maximal resolution of my screen with Nvidia drivers is 1280x1024. (In particular, I use the Nvidia 331.89 driver) With Nouveau driver, the maximal resolution falls to 1024x768. Is there a solution for increasing the maximum resolution with Nouveau ? Best regards,

Windows Installation..
I guess this really isnt the right place to be posting this it's probably the best place for me to find the answer. I would like to know if any of you are doing windows 2000/2003 installs over PXE and if so how you had it setup. I've done some searching on google and mostly found info about somthing called RIS or RAS or whatever.... it required a windows box and thats not a option.. I

Using wimboot with syslinux UEFI
I am trying to load a WinPE boot image using wimboot, and failing. The 3 files appear to load successfully (the output "Encapsulating ... <filename>" is displayed for each file, taking a few minutes on the .wim file as expected based on the size), but then the workstation just reboots, and I don't see output after that. Has anyone successfully loaded WinPE using wimboot with

Isolinux bug: CD bootsector support broken
HPA, I believe that support to boot windows CD bootsectors was broken in 3.05. I have tested 2.13, 3.00, 3.02, 3.05, 3.06, 3.08, 3.11, and 3.20pre6. All versions >= 3.05 are broken. All versions <= 3.02 work fine with the same config. The error message I get is: ================================================================ IOSLINUX 3.20 3.20-pre6 Copyright (C) 1994-2005 H. syslinux -> Windows 2008R2
Hello, I'm trying to use a current Syslinux setup, that is working well for service linux based distros, to serve up recent Windows server installs. As I'm new here I'm reluctant to make any changes to the environment unless I've exhausted the current options. We are running Syslinux 3.71 on a Gentoo server and all the DHCP and tftpd are "working as they should". What

File size and graphics from com32 modules (unrelated)
Hi, I'm working on a com32 module in which I need to get some file size. The only way I found was to include the "lib/sys/file.h" header file and get the i.length field from the file_info structure (once a file descriptor is open). I understand that this structure is internal to the Com32 file I/O implementation and should not be accessed from com32 modules. So is there a

PXE -> tftp -> WinPE vs NForce 4
Hi The setup, as in the subject, is supposed to boot a Winpe to install xp to a clean PC. I use the Ramdisk method (ie PXELinux pases the setup on to the M$ pxe loader and and boots WinPE) It works perfectly with evry other chipset, but Nvidias NForce 4. (tested 15 different) With NF4 it loads up well but the M$ PnP routine detects the Network management bus wrong (nvidia specific approach to

PXE booting WinPE with UEFI architecture
Anyone have luck with pxechn32 and bootmgfw.efi? I'm getting the "Unable to retrieve first package" issue as reported by others. PXELINUX and WDS (The Proper WAY)
After about 15 hours, a packet sniffer and a ton of google searching later, I have a solution to getting WDS (Windows Deployment Services) to work with PXELINUX Google didn't turn up anything of use directly, everything that was referenced appeared to be related to starting pxelinux from either WDS or RIS. That just won't do, since they often can give hiccups and lockups when

Using PXE to Boot CD Images?
Is it possible to chain isolinux and memdisk over pxelinux? If it's possible, I'd like to boot a CD Image over the network. I've been using pxelinux to boot ltsp for years, and recently upgraded to take advantage of memdisk for booting a DOS hd-image. Ideally I'd be able to boot a CD-Image. Thoughts? -- <:3)~ Michael T. SYSLINUX 3.63-pre3 release candidate; SDI image booting
Hello, I just received a serious bug report from Stas Kysel of rPath (with a great test case); it appears that deleted files can confuse extlinux so that it misses files. This is bad. As a result, I have pushed out 3.63-pre3, and intend to make a 3.63 final shortly. I would appreciate any help testing this. Furthermore, I would like to finish the SDI booting module, but I have yet to
